Well if they're guarding something that has to do with immortality then it probably has something to do with the black mage wanting that power or the black wings wanting that power to break his seal.

So...the Novans have access to a Philosopher's Stone. I would like to see JMS get their hands on this information.

They're probably trying to set up a storyline for after the Black Mage.

Coincidence? It's a stretch, but hey, speculation can be fun.

Looking at the speed of the purple weapon [4]
Normal Knuckles as we know are usually of [5]
When i look at that weapon, it looks something like a Pincer (similar to a crab)

or maybe its a laser type/projectile type(along with the shield i think)
Just my 2cents, cant wait for more details about the new weapon xD
