Honestly.. thinking about it, I have this feeling there's some sort of legal strategy behind this Black Cipher thing. Nexon probably is very aware about how pomegranate it is, but those trainers still need to bypass it.. Not sure how involved Anhlab is with the court battle between Nexon and "them", but if they were to create a bypass for Black Cipher, Nexon will have one more chip to present to court as far as damages goes.

All of this is just a guess though, I am most likely completely wrong.

That'd be a better thought if BlackCipher weren't completely pomegranate at what it does.
There's nothing to "bypass" as any player can make it stop completely from Task Manager.

In our ongoing effort to combat game exploits and malicious hacks, we are utilizing a hack detector called Nexon Guard, along with HackShield, to provide another layer of game security in MapleStory.

Nexon Guard will appear as the program "Black Cipher.aes" in the task manager. Players should not attempt to "End Process" this program. Doing so will not improve in-game performance, but will instead make you vulnerable to server disconnects and may cause your account to be flagged for File Modification.

That's a rather large "if".

Considering that they couldn't even have the balls to make the threat definite (note the 'may') as well as the fact as they outrightly lie within the same paragraph (killing the process definitely improves performance), I'm not willing to accept that scenario as anything further than hypothetical.

If I've read correctly, Combat Arms players have been killing BlackCipher for a while now with no negative ramifications.
Sounds more like they're trying to use a scare tactic (something Nexon has used time and time again) because they can't be assed to ensure that Maplestory can't run without Black Cipher.
Not that I'm complaining, because the last thing I need is more of their memory-hogs making the game unplayable.
