Here's a cheat:

Make sure you start a new game of minesweeper. Before you click any boxes, type: X,Y,Z,Z,Y, SHIFT+ENTER(shift and enter at the same time), ENTER

At the very top left corner of your desktop you will see a single pixel. If it's white, that means there's no mine. If it turns black, there's a mine. This works best on dark desktop backgrounds.

Why would you use cheats? It takes all the fun out.

Anyways, I always make it down to the last few and BOMB, You killed the lil Smiling Emote at the top

i figured it out last year by accident when i played on beginner, from that moment on i got hooked, i played for like 6 months, and i played it every day.
my best scores so far is 111 on expert and 43 on intermidate and i dont bother about beginner since it's based mostly on luck but my sister got a 7 on it which i have never beaten.

I only got Minesweeper after I played Minesweeper Flags on MSN games. Instead of chess, we apply the same srs business attitude to Minesweeper Flags.
