What you remember from 9/11?

I knew there was something odd that morning because my parents had the television turned on. The TV was never on when I ate breakfast before school (2nd/3rd grade I think). Their parents called mine to inform us something was happening. The channel was on CNN or something and I remember seeing the thick smoke rise from the towers. My sister and I had to go to school, and I wondered if this was something big. Later around 10 AM-ish, the PA guy notified us what happened when my class was on its way to art. My dad later picked us up, and he was visibly shaken and told us to be safe. Even though I really didn't understand, I kept my eyes glued to the news for the rest of the night.

This is something I will never really forget.

I was thinking more over the fact that, well, hiding him like that won't make people feel safe. If I was in the U.S. and the president suddenly went into hiding..well, you get what I think.

Well, as long as they are ready for anything. :/

The President being dead wouldn't be safe, either.

I vaguely remember it, i was 11 at the time, I cant say i have any memories attached to 9/11.
But still my heart goes out to the victims of that horrible day.

I remember it clearly. I was 7 at the time, third grade. I woke up that morning to see the images of the planes colliding into the tower, I really didn't understand it at the time. I remember having it explained in class by the teacher and I felt like the moment was unreal, "that's the kind of stuff in movies and video games" is what I was thinking, we had a moment of silence, and school felt a little uneasy that day.

then I remember the Fox news propaganda where there was an image of downtown Los Angeles with cross hairs on it and I was freaking scared about that.

I remember, I was home schooled back then and my mom called me into the living room to explain what happened. I remember watching the buildings burn on the TV. It was pretty sad for me because like a month before my family took a trip to NYC and we went to the top of the WTC and stayed in the hotel in between the two.

I was in grade 7 at the time, and being PST, got the news when I arrived at school. At that age, I wasn't thinking very seriously about what was happening, and didn't think it was a very big deal, and just shrugged it off. It wasnt till days later, and years later that I would understand what happened, and I found out I had a cousin in the towers, who was heading to work, and was luckily on the first floor and got out in time.

Like Sarah, I wish I reacted to the event with more maturity and sincerity, and now, 10 years later, I definitely see the event in a completely different light. I feel bad for those who lost their lives in the incident and those who had lost family in the incident, and will definitely join them in remembering the past tomorrow.

I was a sophomore in high school, I remember hearing about it going on the radio. I didn't get a full comprehension of what was going on until my first period Geometry class when my teacher flipped on the tv. The rest of the day was pretty much everyone still reeling trying to get a grip with what really happened.

I think I was still on vaction (here school starts in like mid/late september) since my brother and I were still asleep till our mom wokes us up to watch CNN from there I can't remember much, like what I felt and stuff but pretty sure I saw the second plane hit since it was like 9 a.m. when I woke up.

EDIT: Now that I think about it I do remember a feeling I had back then, I was mad at the clowns that made those towers so fragile because they wanted more space and I'm still are, they could have saved so many more lives if they thought more about safety and less in profit.

4th grade I was in class and all of the sudden a mass amount of friends started getting checked-out by their parents. Literally by the afternoon half the class was gone. My parents also took me out of class early and I didn't know why until my brother told me in the car on the way home. Still didn't understand it even after he explained it but I understood after I saw it on the news.

I just remember going through a normal day of class. It didn't really effect my friends or family so I actually feel relatively apathetic about it since it didn't seem like there was a need to care.

They let us out at lunch, the middle of it, I was in 5th grade at the time. I remember being bullied most of that year up until about 3 months because I was a new student from Italy, they couldn't grasp the concept of military bases and such. When I got home and my mom was hysterical, all I could say was "Wow a half day at school and some of my classmates family dead?! Double whammy thank you karma".

If anybody has the chance, they just revealed the memorial built for those that crashed into the Pentagon (Flight 93) all over the news and Bush, Clinton, as well as Biden attended to honor those that were lost; I'd recommend watching it on some news site.

Obviously Obama couldn't attend because in light of the plans they've been receiving about another attack, he's probably being kept in isolation. Still great to see them remember each individual that was lost in that flight.

I'm pretty much like 110% sure flight 93 was the one where they attacked the terrorist and crashed into an empty field.

I was a 3rd grader (I believe) when this all went down. Of course, being at such a young age, I didn't know what was going on. Though things were somewhat weird when all of the teachers didn't let us out, holding us all in the classroom.

When I got back home, my parents were like worrying, in terror, and etc. Since I was still a curious little child, I turned on the TV...

...and I was utterly horrified and scarred by what I saw. Especially for the next few days as the major TV networks replayed the attacks over and over and over and over again......

It was my birthday the next day. I was going to be 6.
I was in my mother's room and I saw it. I asked her what was happening. She told me not to worry about it and changed the channel.
For my dad though. My dad was across the street next to the world financial center when it hit.
He watched the building for some time and promptly headed for the train station. It was closed. After walking a long time he got to another train station. In sights in the train he saw the 2nd tower fall.

In 8th grade, my school in Juarez, Mexico was next to the US Consulate. I don't remember the exact time we were evacuated from the school, it was still pretty early, like 8 or 9 AM, school started at 7:30 AM. They told us that there might be an attack on the US Consulate, rumors said there was a bomb in the Consulate.

I remember wanting to call my mom from one of the public phones near the school, but they were all crowded, since all of the students wanted to call their parents. My house wasn't that far away, so I started to walking away from the school, because I didn't want to get blown up in case of bomb. My neighbor and her friend caught up to me and also walked home. Two miles later of hearing there complaints and tolerating the heat, I got home. I had to wait a couple of minutes because my mom was taking a shower, after a while she opened the door and looked at me surprised, she did not know what was going on.

I told her that we were evacuated because there might be a bomb in the US Consulate, she turned on the TV to see what the news were and that's when I first knew what was going on, I saw the same image most of you guys saw, the two towers burning, the replay of the second plane crashing and then, after a while the towers falling, updates on other planes, etc.

It was shocking and I was really afraid of going back to school, because of the US Consulate, but after a while, it died down and life went back to normal, at least for me. But that whole week was just so different, I remember seeing every day the news, rescue teams looking for survivors.

Yeah I meant to put 77, was watching the movie at the same time and kind of just mentally filled it in. -.-

We had to learn about the US, New York, and the World Trade Centre all day at school that day >_>
