it actually is the same.
the difference is that it's been put in a sugar-vinegar fluid.
it's the method of preservation that changes the name.

The youth is lost.
Pimentos, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, onion, onion, green onion, champignons, corn, carrots, soybeans. There are tasty vegetables out there. Nothing beats onion though.

Corn is a grain just so you know, just like tomato is a fruit.
Also I despise onions because of the texture. I'm fine with how an onion tastes so why you dislike something could be completely unrelated to how it tastes.

Marinading a steak doesn't ferment it. It's like saying hops is the same as beer. Or wine is the same as grapes. Or sap is the same as syrup (this one would actually be much harder to argue with).

Pickle is an informal name, as is Kimchi. The ginger you eat with sushi is pickled ginger, yet it's still referred to as ginger.
By definition, they're still the same vegetable with a different chemical makeup due to the pickling/preservation process.
But anyway, just try adding what you like to vegetables to make them more bearable. Make it look pretty with other foods, or put it in something so you can't see it. :3

Well, a former health teacher once said that she replaced white bread with whole wheat bread in her diet at some point in her life. Whole wheat bread usually tastes different than white bread, but after a while, she found it that whole wheat bread started to taste about similar to white bread. Take that as some sort of proof that the way you taste and think about a food changes over time. I say "Yes", you really can train your taste buds.
Also, onions are great. Totally agreeing with Rob.

The non general term for a pickle is a gherkin or something like that. Idk my spell check isn't underlining it so it must be right.

Don't taste buds naturally change about every seven years or so?
Meaning, you could very well like something now, but you eventually may lose your taste for it?

Yes, you acquire and lose tastes for certain foods over your lifespan. On the note of this topic though, I can't bring myself to eat most vegetables as well. Perhaps only carrots, onions, kale, and lettuce, but that's about it. Everything else tastes funky to me. That's why I take a really good health supplement to help my body receive the nutrients it's missing. However, I know that actually eating the food itself proves to give you more of the nutrient your body needs. I'm hoping my tastes change to like vegetables. I used to eat a whole radish every day between the ages of 3-5. I grew out of the taste, but I really miss eating them =(

Fruit overpower the taste of veggies, and my mother, goddamn her, has tricked me for years with fruit smoothies that indeed had veggies in them. So if you can just ignore the fact that there are veggies in your smoothie you'll get the nutrients that way... Then again you'll know what you're eating.

I was gonna type this at work, but i had stuffs to do:
The first thing you need to do is open your food palette; Open your mind to new foods and different tastes and textures. If you go in with a pre-existing notion that what you are going to eat will taste like crap, then it WILL taste like crap. But if you go in thinking "I'll try it; it doesn't look like crap an smells good" then you'll have a more non-biased tasting. Like my parents always say: Try it once without any pre existing notion of what it willo taste like. If you absolutely hate the taste or texture of it, then you don't have to eat anymore. If you like it, well, you've found something new.
Another method you could try is to mix your veggies in with stuff a little at a time. Know and tell yourself that you will eat at least (__) much veggies today at dinner and then slowly work more and more veggies into your diet until you're satisfied with the amount. So instead of just having a steak, you can have a steak with a mushroom and onion sauce with a side of spinach. Or start even slower by adding 1 leaf of lettuce to that sandwich that you eat every day. If you do something too drastic (say making a spaghetti sauce with chunky tomatoes an onions and putting spinach and squash in it), that may overload your mind and warp your mentality into "the damned veggies made the spaghetti taste like crap."
Or you can do what i do an just eat it with something else. Don't like the squash? put some of those mashed potatoes on top of a small slice of squash and eat them together. Hate bananas? Make banana bread and put some jelly on it. It works for me all the time (though i don't have many foods that i dislike. I mainly hate to eat stuff that seems gross to me like seas snails or sea cucumbers [which are not the best texture in the world])
