Need to find good DS RPG's

Matter of opinion. Plus considering your obsession with games that use the DQ battle system, we're comparing Apples to Oranges.

Ah yes, magical starsign. Definitely a fun old game. Definitely old though. But when it came out... man that was fun :3

I loved that there was NO strategy guide at the time, so I helped out craptons on the gamefaqs message board. Too many idiots on there though so I just left.

shouri Wrote:Just looked up sands of destruction.... when the heck was that made? It looks like a game from 5+ years ago with those graphics. The attacks were... sad. Specials cut off and don't keep the monster you're attacking on screen.... it's like he was attacking the darkness (inb4 magic missile at the darkness)

This is what I mean:

I mean heck... I love RPGs. I almost exclusively play RPGs. But this just looks sad T.T

Lol, the game looks really nice. I've played many rpg's, and I don't dismiss any of them for graphics. And I've played Luminous Arc! xD
So, I was lucky, and they had a copy of Sands of Destruction left. Iluvit~ Big Grin
Thanks for reminding me, Solarboy.
I also got DQ 9
Only Mega Man game I own is 5, but I've played them all, lols. Every single battle network starting from number 1~starforce 3.
I really want some more action rpg/button mashers, which is what made me get Sands today too. Next game I buy will be disgaea hopefully.

Eh everyone has different thoughts so even if you don't like it others will which I assume you know already.

Will eleborate on my thoughts of this game...

Lunar knights was pretty great only thing that annoyed me was running out of energy to dash which rarely happens if you know what you are doing..Graphics were cool animated cut scenes occasionally with voice acting, real time combat which kind of reminded me of zelda but a bit more difficult. Elements helped fight certain monsters as usual you can switch which element you are using any time once you obtain them, there are a lot of different weapons mostly for the gunner and scythe and lance for the swordsman all can be upgraded.

The shooting mini games after the bosses are rather fun but could of been worked on harder they control kind of weirdly since you have to use the stylus for everything moving and shooting. Leveling up the two characters gives you points to put into each of three stats to build up the characters in a few different ways, though each character does specialize in certain stats one is usually harder to increase than the other two I think. Game also has local multiplayer with a single cart download play feature.

I'm fairly sure Tales of Innocence was bad. Tales of Hearts would have been great if it weren't so god damn easy to abuse. i.e. the second arte you learn can be spammed for the rest of the game to victory, otherwise an okay game, and quite challenging if you don't abuse (i.e. don't use common sense). I wouldn't hold your breath for a Tales game for the DS given they went straight to PS3 Graces F for localization. That being said, I think there's an English patch for both Innocence and Hearts somewhere out there if you have a flash cart, though I believe it's only the menus and item names translated and not (a lot of) script. There's some detailed FAQs though to guide you through if you're willing to play a game like that.

Magical Starsign is boring. The characters, with the exception of the robot, are mostly unlikable and the plot takes so long to move forward. It's got gorgeous graphics and a decent battle system but it's just not a very good game compared to most of the other games mentioned.

I did not find Lunar Knights fun at all and I won it in a contest for free so I had no reason to feel like I had wasted money. It was awkward to handle and besides that I don't remember ANYTHING about it which is never a good thing.

And second Suikoden Tierkreis. If you've never played a Suikoden game then don't let it fool you--it is that in title alone. Well, besides the 108 stars. EVERYTHING else is different. It's still a really, really, really good game (like top 10 for the DS) but it's nothing like other Suikoden titles, which some people hold against it.

I'm going to look up that Summon Knight game for DS that's like real time. Looks interesting.
Anyway, reason I was asking is because I want some games to play over the week, since I won't be here for a whole week. I wanted games for myself, and I brought my hoarde of games for my little brother and his friend to try so they leave me alone, along with the old black wii. Should be fun.

Also, damn, DQ 9's battles are extremely fun, nice music too.
I only wish you could customize your character later, because I ended up making a new one an hour in since I didn't like how mine looked. Tongue

It's not so much the graphics... so much as the fact that you don't get to attack the enemies.... you attack the darkness.... wtp is that about? that is the ONLY problem I have with it. The rest of the graphics are perfectly fine for me. It's just that attacking the darkness is a major turn off for me.

Not sure what you're talking about. I'm playing it right now and so far have never seen any of my attacks "attack the darkness". They're always running up and hitting the enemies--even the ones in the air.

Also @Dredragon why are you ignoring all of the best RPGs? If you're going for ones that are "rare" first then Radiant Historia and Suikoden Tierkreis should be a priority.

Also also Chrono Trigger was good back in the day and it's still fun but it hasn't aged well and the port was a lazy one where they just added two new dungeons (and a new ending) but the new dungeons have like 10 hours of gameplay because they have you running back and forth between them fetching items. Not really fun. I hate lazy ports so much.

I posted the video in the first comment I made regarding the game. I specifically mentioned that it was the special looking moves and that there was nothing wrong with the graphics outside of that.

Chrono Trigger was cool but the 1999 thing was kind of dumb and very easy to make fun of. Still haven't beaten it out of boredom no motivation all the endings have been spoiled by G4 or something when it wasn't crap/the internet. Anyone care for Dragon Quest Monsters:Joker that was pretty fun a while back and there's a sequel coming sometime later this year.
