Sell me an XBOX 360
#41
To be honest, I was having a similar consideration myself after recently checking that the system was down to $99. My own deductions and this thread have helped me at least to a conclusion for now. But first;

WingZero Wrote:I've heard Geometry Wars is pretty good and that is Xbox exclusive.

I know it is probably a different version somehow, but I have Geometry Wars for the Wii.

Takebacker Wrote:Isn't it possible to rent consoles to play vesperia on? I remember blockbuster doing something like that back in the day.

I wish, I remember renting handhelds for things.

Which actually leads me to my (hopeful) solution. Buy the system and 2 games I want to play genuinely, and bum rush through them so that I can return it within the store's return policy period OR return for store credit towards a PS3 since I never did get one of those yet either and my father's looking at a shared investment for a blue-ray player anyway. And I'm not getting into a console war over this, I'm just not interested in the genre's offered by the 360's exclusive library. I mean yeah, I worked there, but it doesn't mean I take favorites.

Tales of Vesperia itself is worth buying a Xbox in the first place.

Huh? Unless I'm misunderstanding it, isn't it the same as the $15 DLC that's free if you buy it new that EA and other companies have been doing? I mean, I agree that online play shouldn't be restricted like that, but it's not exactly a new thing.

That doesn't make it okay. It's a move to stop the distribution of used games which is bullshit and way worse than XBox's pay-to-play subscription service. I don't buy every game brand new and while I know companies want to make money, this is a shitty way to do it. DLC is one thing but A ONE TIME PASS is fucking stupid. Especially if you live in a multi-person household. Each player would need to buy a pass. That is not only unfair, it's unethical. It's like the most extreme form of DRM. Even most serials can be used on multiple computers.

Hey, we actually agree on something. It didn't really bother me on the Xbox though, mainly because It was just done by EA and their crappy sports games that I don't play.

If Sony (and Microsoft) will continue to pursue this, there will be a huge rise in the Xlink Kai network

It's simple, just replace Sony's / Microsoft's network with another self fabricated one, problem solved! Smile
