VIP potential nerfs.

I doubt 4th tier potential is getting removed because it would (in a way) defeat the purpose of obtaining VIP items, which originated from GMS. If anything, we should receive some sort of compensation like ele wands/stave change Rolleyes

Not quite accurate.

4th tier potentials were originally in KMS, but there were no 4th tier equips.

When equips in the 4th tier got added (lv.130/140) the potential was removed, and made uniform so everything above 120 is the same as at 120.

Why this was done, I don't know. But it's KMS that put the 4th tier in place and KMS that removed it, so GMS is 99% likely to just copy it across.

I could have sworn that the Alien event originated in TMS / ThMS, not GMS...

It's GMS exclusive content but ThMS patched it in first... Nexon has a "special" definition of exclusive.

I put a footnote under that such a scenario would require an assumed premise.

Aggravate Wrote:Why the hell is this thread going on? In essence, gMS will copy the same data from kMS and just translate it. That means it'll get changed 100%, and 4th tier (121-200) will be shafted into a 3rd tier expansion (71-200). It's ALWAYS been like this (with Nexon copy & pasting things). People with 121+ equips right now need to get over themselves. Tongue

@ above: I'm willing to bet 99.9% it'll be the first scenario.

You missed the sarcasm. I am perfectly fine with deniers clinging onto their hopes of whatever that remaining % is.

You and me both. I'm anxiously awaiting the day it hits so I can see all the QQing and ragequiting about people spending X amount of mesos to get a VIP weapon only to have to downgraded to the stature of a 120 weapon.

This. But really, I do think the vip weapons will be changed to the third tier. There is no reason to keep them at 4th, if no other equips get that luxury even at the same level.

Takebacker Wrote:In that case what happened was they messed the stats on release of the VIP xbow to a level 27 weapon instead of 127. Instead of making a patch to fix it they changed the stats server side rather than client side. If you potentialed the xbow (which some people did) even though it was client side a level 27 weapon, it received 4th tier potential. Therefore, since changing the level changed the tier, deleting a tier/extending it will change the potential on existing equipment.

No real need for a link since you can just look at the extractions for the alien event to see it was marked a level 27 weapon. As far as your friends earring situation, VIP earrings are regardless of tier the best in the game. They're just super expensive.

When the xbow was 1st released it had the potential of a lv 27 wep not 127 it wasnt fixed until they patched it.

You shouldn't confuse what will happen with what you want to happen.

Its not like Nexon considers our fealings/thoughts when doing patches and what not. And not, Alien didn't originate from Gms, they just made a "Fortresscraft" of the alien event.

It had the correct tier for a lvl 27 wep, and when they patched in the correct level the tier followed suit automatically.

This is something thousands of people playing should take to heart. Well said.

I think that's what's confusing them.

Ok, this is all getting a bit silly.

Potential stats on an item are not stored as a value, they are stored as a reference. Look in this thread: http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=28937

Let's say I have a unique item that is currently Tier 4 and is level 127. It gives a 12% Str bonus. The item is stored with the appropriate reference number for 1) unique, 2) bonus group, 3) specific bonus. The actual reference number is:
030041.level.13.incSTRr 12 (03 is unique, 00 is stats, 41 means Str %)

So you can see the reference number of 030041 means 12% Str.

When Nexon changes potential, they will simply change the reference table. The reference number of 030041 will still be on your weapon, but now the reference table will have this entry on it instead:
030041.level.13.incSTRr 9

Your item now has 9% Str. This is what happened to the VIP XBows. let's say it was a VIP XBow in this same example. It has a reference number of 030041 for 12% strength and it would have a 'level.13' on it for being a level 127 item. Since the level of the VIP XBow was made as 27 instead of 127, it had a different Level reference and looked like this : 030041.level.03.incSTRr 3
When the XBow's item level was fixed to 127, that 3% immediately shot up to 12% because the item level portion of the reference was fixed.

If you want to see how your weapon will be affected when the new Potential Table is put into place, look at this thread here: http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=35651

Find your bonus on the Before table, then look for the same reference number on the After table. That's what you will get.

Fiel Wrote:False. 4th tier wasn't deleted. It was just changed so that all 4th tier values are the same as 3rd tier values.
Now I'm certain that current weapons with 4th tier pot will turn into 3rd tier equivalent. Pretty much what Thorr said
