All literature plots are the same. Mind blown.

Do they both have Madonna figures?

Is Dimmesdale presented with a foil of himself?

No.

I like Rodya more, Dimmesdale seems whiny.

Also, possible similarity between Sonia and Hester? One's a prostitute, the other an adulteress, both are pretty much shunned by their communities, and they both seem pretty religious.
