Laptop randomly shutting off.

Its not like the batteries dead or something or that its on sleep mode, is there any setting my little brother could have put on to make it shut off at a specific time??

I am running Windows Vista.

You've probably already checked, but just in case you haven't. I had this problem a long time ago, turns out my cooling fan wasn't functioning and it was constantly overheating.
