Denmark blocked from gms?

2 days ago my friend from denmark could log on gms with his old beta account but for some weird reason hes getting "we are unable to connect to the login server bla bla" image each time he start maple. He did not install anything that may cause this and it wont even work on his laptop.

What he tried to solve this problem:
1. used game launcher
2. started game from webpage
3. Started game as admin
4. Started game in windows 7 & xp

Now not one of these worked so this makes me wonder why he cant log on without using a VPN, his account is made from beta like I said and I can log on it just fine without any problem (I live in europe too). Have anyone had this problem aswell or is denmark blocked from gms for good?

No block. If it was he would get the message about different versions when inputing his password.

I know that part but he cant even start the game, like hackshield loads just fine but when that part is done he get the same message as you would get if there was a patch/server check.

Is he quite sure he never played a pserver or tried a hack?
I seem to recall someone here finding a suspicious line in their HOSTS file, which caused them to be unable to connect.
Vague on the details though.
