From what I've been told by a friend who's a big fan of Eminem, the song is an allusion to Dr. Dre's life, so real events.

The video was sick, but I didn't like the music. Lyrics were okay.

Oh, yes, it's based on true events. All those images range from NWA time to post Chronic 2001.
