Why do people not pick up drops?
#1
I see this all the time, in ss and in real time, people kill and then leave tons of drops on the map. Personally, I need all the mesos, npc items I can get. Just makes me want to loot even more. What are your reasons?

People do it so they can level faster. If they have to stop every few seconds to loot everything in the map, their experience per hour will decrease rapidly. This is why I use pets.

You mean stuff like 1st-3rd job monsters? When you have a funded account, people can afford to ignore measly drops in exchange for faster leveling. I know I do it with my alt characters; I mostly only pick up drops for a quest or equipment since a potential can sell for quite a bit even when not identified yet since SOMEONE will pay a premium for that chance at a 3-liner.

I don't pick up drops solely because I leave the drops as an indicator for someone to change channels before going through my spawn and raping everything because they "didn't know".

But, if there's a worthwhile drop, I'd pick it up.

We don't all live in LA and pay $60 for internet.

training is faster. Plus drops really don't make too much of a difference at higher levels (equips are of course looted). some people lag and thus don't loot either.

Time. And in some cases, danger. I vividly remember trying to loot ores and equips at MP3 on my cleric... monsters would spawn and hit me, Healing myself aggro'ed still more of them... I live 10,000 miles from Nexon and have horrible loot lag, can pick up maybe one item per second, so looting everything takes a long time and exposes me to many hits.

On my main I've always looted every copper coin and snail shell, because I was unfunded and needed them all. Nowadays I have a looting pet, but still make sure to get items that drop where it doesn't want to go (some maps are really bad for pet loot, due to random little platforms items fall up onto). However, on mules that don't have a pet (pretty much all of them), I usually don't bother with anything but equips, scrolls, and the occasional valuable ore, powder, or potion. I want those mules to get to level <whatever> ASAP, so not willing to spend time for relatively small amounts of meso.

I wish that was the case in Khaini at OB4. Even with a billion drops on the ground, people still make the assumption that the map is empty and kill monsters.

Regardless, I don't really pick up stuff on my alts, because it's too much time wasted. I have my PB pet auto-loot the drops as I pass by them on my main. Kinda evens out in the end.

Leveling to 130 + solo zakum + sell zakum helmets = faster way to get mesos then looting 100 meso per second...

If you have enough NX to regularly Karma zhelms, you have enough NX for a looting pet. Those meso and etc drops do add up. Not to mention that, at least for me, the pet sometimes picks up nice stuff I never even saw drop.

A pet costs like: 3k + 2k + 2k + 2k NX? (can't rememeber how much exactly...) that's about 9k NX, which translates to 135.000.000 mesos (1:15 ratio), a pet will never loot that much... or you have to grind like 4+ hours a day...

To put this another way; you probably have to be well into 4th job before you can loot even 1M mesos per hour. That's equivalent to maybe 7 cents per hour at the 1/15 rate often quoted. Why waste time for pennies per hour?
Many people won't bother picking up a dropped nickel or dime in a parking lot, and that takes only seconds of effort.

Because my inventory is full and I'm too lazy to keep moving it to mules. I even drop non-potential equips most of the time. Main problem is that any new items, including pot. stuff cannot be MTS:ed cause Nexons lazy bums havent updated MTS for like 2 and half years.

Indeed, I've not been able to revive my pet for a while thx to the CS error, but judging from redoing the ToT quests, I would seriously miss a friggin pomegranateload of pieces of time and some occasional scrolls and equips. Also, though the NX to meso ratio is useful, for a guy with an ordered, slightly compulsive mind, cleaning the map is worth alot on its own, and that would be insane without a pet.

Personally, to train faster. I pick up equips because those offset my pot costs, usually. Paying for a pet and at least a meso magnet would end up paying for itself after 3 months of it, which makes it worth it. Walking over drops isn't that hard, but picking each up individually is annoying.

Press loot button. Nothing.
Press loot button again. Nothing.
Repeatedly press loot button. One meso-sack looted after 2 seconds.
PRESS LOOT BUTTON WITH THE SOUND OF A 30 MM GATLING GUN MOUNTED ON A THUNDERBOLT. Monsters respawn into you while waiting for the loot sequence to end, thus losing you 50k pot money.

I loot as much as I can when I pass by, and leave the rest there unless I see some equips.

If i don't have pet-loot i only loot drops worth something and not etc/mesos.
Really can't be bothered to waste my time looting what a few 100k mesos during 1 hours grind?
Also a pet doesnt cost much after you got it, only need water of life every 3rd month and a meso magnet, item pouch isn't worth it IMO as you can loot gear yourself, unless you grind at a place where the etc is worth more than the NPC value.
I have both anyway, but i'm lazy and got the mesos for it.

I use a pet if possible to loot my stuff, otherwise I just loot for half of 1st Job and then ignore everything. It's faster in terms of leveling and loot lag sucks. I make TONS more money a lot quicker looting with a pet too, better than looting nothing at all. I hate leaving loot lying around but the lag and time it takes to loot everything is aggravating.

I found an enhancement scroll lying around in a pile of loot while looking for a map in Kerning Square once, though. :I
