Crippling the entirety of North Korea's offensive again Seoul would be impossible unless a strategic missile defense could be done. We do have some capability to do so, but seriously it's impractical if it's against a nuclear weapon at low altitude and at high altitude you then have to worry about the Compton Effect (the electromagnetic pulse that destroys and fries any electronics it meets up with). You would literally have to plan a mission ahead of time and destroy any launch platforms and bases they have for these weapons.

The problem of a war between North and South against is this... the North will lose regardless and they literally will have nothing to rebuild with after the war. The South would be easily rebuilt and restructured after a war by it's neighbors and allies, and there's no way the U.S. and other allies of them would allow North Korea to take over the South.

Plus you have to figure one strategic player in the game that has been silent all this time. Japan. Even though Japan has only a Self-Defense Military Force, Japan at any time could take a stake in this as North Korea has been hostile with them as well and put the Self-Defense forces to work in the promotion of defense of Japanese interests which their constitution does allow for. Add in the U.S. and other friendly nations and North Korea won't have a chance in Hell at victory.

Plus I seriously have skepticism about the effectiveness of any Nuclear armament deployed by North Korea. Who's to say they might goof up due to human error, some disgruntled personnel, and end up nuking themselves if not Pyongyang? North Korea would be brash and arrogant enough to launch a nuke directly from Pyongyang. All it would take would be someone on the inside to level Pyongyang while the Kim's sit back watching their American movies and drinking their tea unaware and careless.

Wouldn't a nuke effect them immediately after anyway? Radiation + few mile radius + weather = effectively nuking/harassing the entire country + itself. I mean look at the Nuclear power plant failure in Russia a few years back (don't remember the incident), that thing sent off radiation every which way and the consequences are STILL in the area and for god knows whow long.

Their weapons are made from scrap from 50 years ago, anything they make is rusted and beaten up. If they even try to launch a nuke it'll just run out of juice and fall back on them.

South Korea is however more advanced and can easily beat the crap out of North.

As for china, they'll just shoot anyone who crosses their waters.

For all you and i know, North Korea could be hiding their supreme awesome cannon that could end the world in one night. It is not safe to assume that North Korean weaponry is "old" and "outdated". For all we know, North Korea has been putting up a facade to make us all believe they are complete idiots.

Only people that are in North Korea can actually tell us the advancement in their weaponry. To assume in war, is like signing your death warrant. If anything, we should assume that they have more up-to-date weapons than we do, that way we can prepare for damage of severe caliber , while also maintaining defence for smaller caliber destruction.

The biggest weapon North Korea has is one they readily use and is already in usage: FEAR.

For North Korea the weapon of fear has been a staple and a crutch. Remember that fear is a weapon but it's also a sword sharpened on both sides which means as useful fear is to them, it's equally as dangerous.

Time and time again dictators, totalitarian regimes, and oppressive governments have used fear as a weapon again their enemies and their own people to control them and 9 times of of 10 it always comes back to be their undoing and demise. Rulers who are feared are 10 times more likely to end up assassinated and removed from power by their own people. Rulers who, however, are respected by their people only meet their demise through those who could have any fear of them, but not their own people.

For the Kims of North Korea, they are feared, and this fear will eventually be their undoing.

People who rule with fear, also fear their own people, but people who respect their people are also respected by them.

I kind of feel like South Korea will start the war. Now that they have some provocation, they might just tip over the edge. The South Korean leader Lee Myung-bak stated that he would get revenge on the North Korean artillery bombing. I think there's a great possibility for this to escalate.

they have the right to be angry. North korea is just another pomegranate country/the only pomegranate country in the world.

If you look at what all has been going on over the years with the kidnappings of people from other countries held for years on ransom or never seen again and presumed dead, the military taunting and attacks by the North on the South, and other things like attempting to acquire or ship nuclear materials via sea only point the finger that the North has been asking for a retaliation.

As I said, the best thing North Korea could do at this point is go quiet and do nothing, else, they literally face the wrath of the world against them.
