Deviants.

Deviant is a terminology used when identifying people that are straying from norms. People that doesn't contribute or somehow benefit society can be implied as a deviant (imo). Here are the questions I have for you, SP:

"Do you consider yourself as a deviant? If not, do you look down upon them? Or do you look up at them because they're doing things differently?"

What made me think a bit was because I know there are Otakus like myself that collects anime-related things, it's awkward because it is an obsessive-impulsive disorder [and you'd have to obsessive to be an Otaku anyways, or else you're just a fan, which is different]. If you saw someone in your college classroom watching anime (regardless of how smart or dumb they are), would you think that specific person is a dumb-ass for watching such a thing in a public area? Now, imagine the library, etc. What about someone wearing eccentric clothing in public? Think "goths", etc. They're considered as deviants. The list goes on, but what do you guys really think of people like that? Does it bother you at all? I'm just curious.

I'll probably post my own thoughts on this, but I guess I consider myself a deviant too, because I do things that are outside of the norms (a lot of the times, and realizing it, but I don't care).

im not at all ashamed of my mindset, opinions, views, beliefs, and embrace them. i feel it's better to be true to yourself and who you are, whatever you may be, than to conform to society.

Albeit that I myself am a deviant, I have to switch my identity to fit some social groups so I have a means to communicate. Like at work, because I work in a service-oriented area, I have to be able to communicate with customers. I really hate to talk to strangers, and it's true. But at my job, I am required to communicate, so I change my identity to do so. At college, I also have to be able to function at a level in which I can communicate with my peers and classmates, so I talk more too, etc. However, with my friends and parents, I act normally without having to shift identity-roles.

Not sure if you understood what I meant, but yeah. I'm not exactly ashamed, I actually drive around with a body-pillow (next to the driver's seat) at times around my town, just for sh`it and giggles. My friends knows I just f`uck around when I do that. But yeah, if my parents saw me doing that, they'd probably sh`it their pants. I don't do that at work or at college either, but it's just something I do around town for fun with my friends. I enjoy seeing people's reactions, so in this case, I would consider myself as doing something of abnormal behavior.

I'm also an extreme Atheist, but I will stray away from religion debates unless I know enough about the other party/side's argument. I'd rather not make myself look like a moron, etc. I know friends that are extreme Atheists too, but they'll literally sit down and just ..argue and debate about it just because they love to debate to prove that they're right.

PS: Also, yes, deviants are something that is.. very subjective to discuss about. Which is why you all should feel free to express your opinions. Who is to say what is subjective, and what is not? It's all really rooted down to where you were raised, what kind of culture and society you lived in, as well as what religion you were taught as you grew up.
