Right but the comparison is not between +atk and +%atk or non-NLs and NLs, it's between +%atk and +%stat.

Use A as attack and S1 as primary stat (S2 for secondary if you're picky) and stick it into the damage formula after adjusting for the +%. If you set the +% value you would get two values with A and S1 in it. Compare the two in an inequality and isolate a variable. If no realistic values or all realistic values satisfy the inequality, then there is no point. If there is, that's the point (or rather a border).

If you plan on being technical, you're going to deal with five variables and multiple formulas for different jobs. Might be faster just sticking in your specific attack and stats w/ the potential equip on in the formula and see which one's better. A general equation is not worth finding (or useful).

Any elementary kid can tell you that whether you raise A, B, or A*Watk/100 by 1.5x, the result you get is the same.

Now then we take into account the existence of apple, Watk becomes (B + 100) => dmg = A * (B +100)/100
The same thing remains the same if you raise A, (B + 100) or A*(B+100)/100 by 1.5x, but it's been up in the air that you cannot do the bolded, as +%Atk does not cover the addition from potions/skills(?). So obviously, the better safer choice would be %stat, with a negligible damage loss from secondaryStats.

And it seems you haven't learned anything from the last time bashing bossDmg%.

(S + X) * (EX ~ 1P * 2P *3P )) = (S + X ∝ (EX ~ P1 * P2 * P3)) = Total

S = Base stat
X = Bonus stats from equipment
EX = X number of equipments
(EX ~ 1P * 2P * 3P) = Random potential stats per line on a piece of equipment
( S + X ∝ (EX ~ P1 * P2 * P3)) = The constant other chain additions that occur from other equipment items that have potential stats added to the base stat + bonus stat which would = a resulting total stats once every constant is calculated.

Wouldn't that better describe the equipment based potential stats though if each %stat acted on your total stat after each % at a constant of how many pieces of equipment you have?

Btw, don't say pomegranate about what elementary school kids can do, these days they learn how to read in highschool.

Of course A*B > A+B with all A, B > 2. But the thing here is that it does not work like that, all bonuses that apply to one same variable are mutually additive. To optimize your potential bonuses, yes, you have to work out the best combination of bonus types, not pure +%dmg, not pure +%stat or +%atk (which sucks lol).
However, to be fair, you really only have the choice of between %stat and %totalDamage to maximize the potential, which isn't that big a difference anyway.
Not to say you can only get +%totalDamage on a weapon, so there's not much complexity in this.

So to answer the topic question and beyond, %atk < %stat < %totalDamage < %BossDamage

And I'm talking about this:
