i use a flash drive because its direct-connect. my mp3 player uses a cable. file-share sites can be used to transfer songs too.

It'll take a long time to red/l my music off of a file-share site if my compy dies though :/ (it's what I'm doing right now though)

I kinda doubt that I'll find a sorta big flash drive w/o buying multiple 8gb ones or w/e

Some of the best way to store songs, depending on how many songs you have + their file size... is to get a 4 Gig Thumbdrive. I use a 50 gig portable external harddrive to store songs and video files too, so you could try that? 50-GB Portable Harddrives are around 50 - 100 dollars, I believe. You can probably even find a 250 GB one for... 80 dollars if you look close enough. In fact, there's several of those at Walmart.

I dislike using MP3 players to transfer songs because they take so darn long.. I just prefer flashdrives/portable harddrives, but that's just me. xP

An 8 GB flash drive is pretty cheap. You can transfer songs from your computer to your iPod easily, but the reverse is not as easy and you need a separate program. An 8 GB flash drive can hold a LOT of songs.

How many songs? O:

Edit: Is the "separate program" iTunes? Don't you need that to stick songs onto the iPod in the first place?

iTunes will transfer songs from your computer to your iPod, but it doesn't transfer songs from your iPod to another computer.

Assuming an average song is 5 MB, an 8 GB flash drive can hold around 1600 songs. You can transfer those songs, then just delete them from the flash drive, and transfer a new batch of 1600 songs.

The iPod in itself doesn't, but there are programs you can use to do such. I myself use "SharePod."

As a way to xfer songs, I can't believe I never thought of that xD

If you want to backup all of your songs, then buy an external hard drive. You can find a 320 GB external hard drive for $50. The cheapest 8 GB flash drive I've seen is $20. An external hard drive will definitely come in useful later on when you're backing up things that aren't just mp3 files.
