Horntail Pend or Naricain Post big bang
#1
After the balance patch, what will be better for magicians?

A normal Naricain pendant

or an egged Horntail Pendant

Currently Horntail pendants are the best for mages, but i heard that m.att is worth more then int after the big bang patch?

oh wow, I'd like to know this too. I don't want to buy an HT pendant if a MoN can potentially be better.

MoN's will easily, always be better than egged Horntail Pendants come the Big Bang patch. By a lot.

True, but the +22 luk (vs 5?) will be sorely missed.

I think HTPs will still dominate MoNs since LUK now plays a more important role in magic attack.
44-46 stats seems better than 10-12 stats and 10-12 magic attack

Assuming some random numbers for INT, LUK and magic attack, 800, 100 and 200 respectively:

Max damage = (4 * INT + LUK) * (Attack / 100)

HTP max: (4 * 822 + 122) * (200 / 100) = 6820

MoN max: (4 * 805 + 105) * (210 / 100) = 6983

Magic damage now works the same as weapon damage, so attack is far superior over attributes.

If you normalize those to 100 luk (assuming base luk is appropriate) you get HTP (4*844+100)*200=6952, MoN (4*810+100)*210=7014

It's not a big difference. But the more base INT you have the better the MoN gets - and oppositely the more M.ATK you have the better the HTP gets.

If Chaos HTPs have 2 egg-able slots then they'll most likely be better than MoNs. (7240 if you take base luk to 100, 7000 if you leave it at 140)

Ninja'd, But,yeah, if you have to make up for the lost LUK in switching back to MoN by sacrifying INT somewhere else, the benefit is not so large, but still there.
Also the speed, jump, MP and HP bonus of the MoNs is very nice.
And they are much cheaper, but you have to actually go on a run.
Guess I can give my HTP to my Aran.

You must remember that MoNs probably won't have the ability to get %boosts.
