Combo Smash
#1
Is it just me, or is it hard to perform? Tongue I can never truly perform this easily, and I can't really control it's direction. It's super frustrating. Any tips on how to use it easily?

Press down and then left in one quick motion while spamming your attack key. If you time it right, it fires RIGHT after Triple ends.
Swap left for right to change directions.... o.o

I never have trouble with Smash.

I prefer to have some sort of tempo with it. When I do normal attacks I just spazz out on Ctrl. When I use Smash, I perform it like 3 quarter notes on a 120-180beat tempo. Da-da-ta. Da-da-ta. Down-left-ctrl.

I never had a problem with smash. I had it down in less than 1 CPQ. I sorta bash the keys like a maniac.. but hey whatever works.

the only problem ive encountered with combo smash and penril phantom so far is that whenever u use it with perfect timing and then use the down/right/atk keys again with perfect timing it fires the attack twice. this isnt a visual glitch since the skill actually deals damage the 2nd time. i dont know why this works, and i do know its hard to perform but ive done it lots of times so far, im actually practising how to do this.

i think its bacause combo points dont instantly reset when you launch the skill but only afterwards, which means you can launch another smash or penril within the time between casting a skill and the resetting of the combo points.. just a theory

When I use smash I just hit all three keys at once, works every time.

True, although I have heard if you can pull a Drain instead of a second Smash, it does work.

They do. Stupid platforms in MP3......>.>

Speaking of ropes, I experimented with Combo-based skills on ropes as well. I only did this with Combo Drain and Combo Smash, so if anyone else has any others, feel free to try this out.
It seems that if you have your combo up (at 30, in this example), and you go on a rope, you can perform Combo Drain on the rope, as long as your combo counter doesn't reset. But, unlike Combo Drain, Combo Smash isn't performed on a rope. Instead, if you were to press Down + Direction + Attack while on the rope (combo count still is 30+) and then got off the rope (quickly, so that the combo count, again, doesn't reset), you perform combo smash as soon as you leave the rope.
Just something I've experimented with a bit.

I always smile when those happen. If you jump off you smash. Course I never linger, so iunno what happens if you stay there for a while.
