Key Board Dun Work <_<

It was working fine. I shut off my computer to go watch TV/eat, and unpluged my USB Port Hug's power cord, since it gives electricty to all the things plugged into it: Keyboard, external drives, mouse. I'm an energy nub. ._.
I don't usually do this, as it spaces my mind.

Anyway, I run the computer and nothing works. I checked all the plugs for loose-sockes, but still the USB hug wasn't working. I put my mouse and keyboard directly into the computer again, and the mouse starts to work. No keyboard though. <_<

Any ideas about what's causing this?

I have checked:
USB port's power cable
rearranging what's plugged in where in the back of my computer
Stuff I said above.

Also, how long should a Velocity Keyboard last? I've had it a few months over a year. :[

Did you try restarting? Is your keyboard wireless?

It's a cord. Retarted dozens of times today.

Turns out a port on the front of my computer works. :]
Still, since it's corded, and I keep my computer in my desk, it's a bit irritating.
I keep getting propted to install new hardwear, so I'll ask my Dad, who gave me the hub, if it came with a CD. :[

I doubt it's the cord. Sounds like a driver problem to me. I've had a similar problem, and so did someone else on these forums. Since I'm a lazy butthole, I'll just copy and paste what I said to the other forum member.

No problem for Bacon. I've had the problem before, and it's quite easy to fix. When you're logging on, turn on the On Screen Keyboard. Login as usual, and head for the Control panel. I'm using Vista, and haven't played around with XP for a while, so I'm not certain how to find Device Manager. Sorry, I can't be of use there. Anyway, search for Device manager and open it up. Make sure your non-functioning keyboard is connected. Find the section that says 'Human Interface Devices', and expand it. There, you should see a picture with an exclamation mark on it. That means that the HID isn't working properly. Right click on it and uninstall the driver. Then just unplug and replug your keyboard, and the drivers should reinstall itself.

Hope that fixes the problem.

You don't have a Ease of Access tool through which you can turn on the On Screen Keyboard?

Ah, I see you're using Windows XP. Well, I'm assuming that some of your USB ports are still working, or you should hope that some still work. Then login as usual, and turn on the On Screen Keyboard (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On Screen Keyboard). Then switch your keyboard to a non-working USB and follow the steps I described.

It sucks that you're using Windows XP. From what I can remember, there aren't any ways of turning on the On Screen Keyboard from the Login Menu which basically screws over anyone with a broken keyboard.
