Virus warning with MS?
#1
So... I patched MS and got this.

Is anyone else using AVG getting this or is it just me? I've redownloaded the client and reinstalled everything but it still keeps appearing, and it's pissing me off because I just can't do anything about it. It's just not letting me open the game and I'm very cautious about turning my anti-virus off.

I've been to Google and I can't tell what this Themida thing is. Anyone know about it at all?

So you're not the only one.

I can't get AVG to put this as an acceptance. On top of that, the Maplestory.exe became corrupted. Now without AVG, it works fine...

Themida had to deal with Gameguard, from what I remember.

Time to get a new anti-virus then? D: At least it's not too serious, I don't really know much about viruses so had a little panic moment, it just seems a bit weird. Thanks for the help, I'll uninstall AVG and find something else to use. Shine

Themida is not a virus - it's just a super strong security put on the EXE file. Maplestory is safe. If it means anything, I'm not going to let it bother me because I know it's not a threat.

I got my AVG to work by opening AVG, clicking on Tools, advanced settings, exceptions and then adding the Wizet folder. Maple works for me now.

For some reason AVG managed to delete the EXE file. I still have a copy of my v.76 folder (I copied it for backup because I tried to prepatch to v.77, which worked), so might I be able to use that EXE, or will I have to patch that folder?

Still using AVG 8.5 btw.

Solution:
1.) Open up AVG Anti-Virus Tray (Should be in your tray on Windows, at the bottom Left)
2.) Go to "Tools", and click "Advance Settings"
3.) Under Resistance Shield, click Directory Exclusives on the left.
4.) Click "Add Path", and add the directory of Maplestory (by default: C:\Nexon\Maplestory).
5.) Click Apply/OK. And you're done.

Thanks, it worked for me, although I still had to patch my old folder -.-

Adding it to exceptions worked for me without having to downlaod it again or anything. Thank god that would have been annoying.

You are a bit over estimating Themida by saying its a super strong security, but it's definitely a decent packer.

Well I had to spend around 4 hours trying to fix this before I had the sense to go to the Tech Help section (lol) and now... I have to reinstall. It deleted my EXE. Ahahah, this happened to DFO and AVG users were laughing... Now the McAfee and Norton people are laughing. But they still suck.

McAfee detected an Artemis trojan which is now a commonality whenever DFO or Maple patches, I know it is a safe file so I just reallow

Check AVG's quarantined files (not at home, so don't remember how you get to it), but my maplestory.exe moved there, so I just recovered it after excluding maple directory from AVG's scan, and it's working fine since then.
