Would you happen to have McAfee virus protection? I heard it only happens to people who have that.

I also have McAfee and am just not experiencing this. It is annoying. I was wondering if this could be solved by using a diff anti virus?

i have no clue how to bypass it ... do you find away to bypass it?

McAfee alerted me when i tried running maple just now that it blocked the trojan from my hackshield folders and then a separate one from my temp files...Can't maple either

Same thing is happening to me too, I also use McAffe and have the same situation Kurtle mentioned. I tried redownloading, restarting, and downloading the HShield files from the site and none worked.

Yeah, you either have to wait for Nexon to fix this, or get a new anti-virus protection system.

I guess you need to restore the two EHSVCL.dll files or whatever they are called and disable virus protection in mcafee to prevent it from auto quarantining. The Artemis trojan it is detecting is the trojan hackshield uses to detect hacking programs and send it to AhnLab.

Try this first:

Random quote from the thread above thread....

I have the fix for Hackshield Initializition Error: 0x00000101(257)
(Posting in every thread of this kind sorry if you see it everywhere but it works for everyone yet)
Go into mcafee security center and go to
Advanced Options > Configure > Computer And Files.
Click OFF on virus protection, and press advanced. Untick the four boxes at the top and press apply.
Now Maple should work.

Or try:

" Im not a pro at this tech stuff but in the hackshield folder files, there is a trojan called Artemis! Artemis!. This trojan helps detect 3rd party programs such as hacks. Your McAfee probably detects it as a threat and deletes it thus making you unable to play maple. Try tuning your McAfee to ignore maple on startup or change your antivirus.

I could be wrong though. D:"

Or try this:

For people who can't enter the site:

Hello Maplers,

If you are having problems updating HackShield after the maintenance that was held on September 1st, please follow these steps to fix the problem:

1. Reboot your computer
2. Erase all files in the HShield folder in the MapleStory installation folder (usually located in the C Drive - C:NexonMapleStory)
3. Download http://maplestory.nexon.net/download/hac...Shield.zip
4. Copy all the files and paste to the HShield folder inside the MapleStory installation folder
5. Run the game

If this does not fix your HackShield problem, please uninstall the client and redownload the full client.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you!

Just throwing out random solutions for this problem try them to see they work

Also people have found that walking away from the computer for a few hours and coming back that the error goes away by it self for some reason... just pointing this out also..........

Was about to make a thread about this. Goggleemoticon

The first solution works. But it looks like I'm gonna be stuck turning off virus protection every time I wanna play Maple. The third will not though, I can assure that.

i don't use mmacrappy but as another proposed solution, doesn't it have an ignore list? or a "this is a safe file and i realize i'm taking a risk by telling you to not kill it" option?

I got the same problem, I just fixed it by going to Advanced Menu->Configure->Computer and Files, click off on virus protection, then go to Advanced and uncheck all 4 boxes->Apply->Ok

Then I was able to go on Maple just fine, but at the cost of turning my virus protection off. Goggleemoticon

-facepalm- it was already posted in this thread, but oh well.

No, but surfing your favorite website and then some random one looking for information very well could if its off still

Just disable Macoffee and install Avast! or something free like AVG for the time being.
