I recently wanted to test if you could abuse the new stat system's reset upon promotion feature to get your character additional HP/MP. So I decided to make a Magician and pump all of it's APs into HP at level 11 as a beginner, right before I promoted it. (Note that now you can't add APs into HP/MP until you're level 11, so I had to save them up for 10 levels). Before Promotion I had roughly 650 HP and 110 MP. What then happened shocked me. My HP and MP after promotion were 210 and 301 respectively. My Int was set at 20 (as expected), my other stats at 4, and I had 43 APs in my pool. So, I lost no APs but my HP dropped by over 400.
What's most odd about this, is that in order for a Magician to have 210 HP by level 11 without adding APs into HP, they have to level as a beginner for all 11 levels, AND have perfect growths every level. Unfortunately I didn't record my HP/MP at earlier levels, but getting perfect HP growths for 11 levels straight seems extremely unlikely, so there's probably some other factor in play here.
Beginner HP by level 11 with max HP growth
50 + 16*10 = 210
Average Beginner HP by level 11
50 + 14*10 = 190
This also leads me to another question.
I've been gradually collecting int equips for a new Bishop, one that I planned to HP wash for 29 levels before promoting to Magician. The problem is, would this new stat system make any HP that I raise through washing drop upon promotion? Seeing as how I and more HP and MP than expected from a level 11 beginner promoting into a Magician, I can only assume there is some underlying formula to this. Does anyone have any idea what this hidden factor is, and would it screw up my plans to make a Bishop with a ton of HP? :f6:

Adding AP to HP as a beginner should give 8-12 HP per time. So 10 levels worth (50) AP = ~500 hp assuming you didn't need 20 int to make the advance anyway.
You lost exactly 440 hp = 8.8hp per AP
The weird thing is that you didn't lose out on any MP. I just looked up one of my Magicians, and at level 11 (following the normal 1 bolt->max MP increase, and an int build) it had 304 mp.
You'd think that what with having no INT and not being a Magician for 3 levels you'd lose a bunch of MP but I guess that didn't happen.
Wrote that down...
Code: lv - hp mp int luk +hp +mp (all + are between x and x+1)
1 - 50 5 8 8 15 12
2 - 65 17 13 8 15 13
3 - 80 30 18 8 14 13
4 - 94 43 18 8 13 13
5 - 107 56 28 8 15 12
6 - 122 68 33 8 16 14
7 - 138 82 38 8 12 15
8 - 150 97 40 11 0 123
8b- 150 220 40 11 14 26
9 - 164 246 45 11 12 29
10 - 176 275 45 11 12 29
11 - 188 304 55 11
"8b" = post-job advance

Maybe your hp loss was taken as that of a magician and not a beginner? Seems like an easy way to cheat the system if that worked.
As for your hp washing thing, you'll probably want someone to test this first in a private server before handing stacks of cash to Nexon and finding out that it doesn't work.
By the way, what do you need the extra hp for anyways?

It's so I can have a Bishop with enough HP to survive being dispelled at Horntail, without having to sacrifice attack power. Being able to tank the death-pillar in CWK JQ would be hardocre as well. =P

Wouldn't that require 10k+ HP and 40k+ MP? Or does Invincible reduce the damage of that o_o

My 99 priest takes 50k dmg from it still so I dont think invincible reduces anything. I'd hypothesize that the pillars disregard all skills so that there's no way you can survive a hit from them (as that is the point) but then again, some cb might come and prove me wrong by showing meso guard works so meh, we shall see.

It would require 10k HP + any amount of MP + Infinity.
Back on topic; if I have some free time soon, I'll redo the same experiment but I'll keep track of my growths and stats at each level. I might also try making a Warrior, raising HP similarly and see what happens.

HP/MP (and AP resets) are done server-side, private servers do not use the correct method unless they've been tested in global (meaning 'research' isn't gonna help).
I think the problem with your plan is that you only get 2 extra HP per AP even if it works, meaning that by level 29 you've only gained about 300 hp at best.
What *might* be possible is to AP reset out "MP increase" 1st job skill, then HP wash, so you lose less MP per AP. It'd still be a pretty bad ratio, though.

Wouldn't doing this take away from your skill points? since you didn't pass the normal level 8 advancement as a magician. You probably lost from levels 9, 10, 11 skill points and got that 1 from job advance at level 11 which is a total of 9 skill points lost?
Or does this system allow you to go as far as you want and reset before the 2nd advance? If so thats one big broken system. Because then it would mean people can use any skill build to level up during that job then reset out using this system before job advance instead of spending NX on skill point resets. Ex. Rouges (dagger) using lucky seven until level 30 then reset out to getting maxed double stab. This is assuming you get your skill points back too and not just your AP. Maybe im just not getting this, does this work for any job advance or does it only work for beginners?

This has nothing to do with skill points. 0_0
If you promote late you keep all that you lost. (i.e. if you promote to magician at level 11, you get 10 SP). This has to do with your ability points resetting upon promoting to 1st job, and how any added HP/MP impact your final stats. The SP system remains unchanged from what it used to be before the recent patch.

Haha, I was originally trying to test this (for my pirate) but once I realized, at level 10, that I can't add hp/mp, I stopped; I think I will go back to test this! I will be testing this for a gunslinger as that is my character of interest, so I will let you know how my results come out. It would be really interesting to see how that works, but may not be worthwhile for any class outside of Mages as they all gain more HP than beginners (I think), if that at all affects it.

Meso guard doesnt work at pilar, I tested this before, so a 30k HP Shadower with MG still dies at the pillar.
The only 3 ways to survive a pillar are:
- Bstep-Jump across it while it passes.
- Hide in Smokescreen and let is pass.
- Use Demolition when the pillar passes
Rush / CSB / BSB / Barrage don't work because they need a monster in front of you for the godmode effect.

Took the time to try a character...
It seems to reset HP/MP to the max you could get as a beginner. I went all-int and it reset me down to the normal maximum when I advanced. (and then gave an MP bonus of 50 since it was a bowman)
Would have to try with a different class to confirm, and this still means you get better HP/MP than the average player, but it's only 1-2 per level.

It resets your HP and MP not just the AP? So this means you cant pump INT for the first 10 levels to get bonus MP so you are able to HP wash more if you are not of the magicain classs?

So... does this mean that magicians lose out on some mp? (Well, only around 12)

Are you sure? My friend advanced late and he lost the sp. Check your sp to make sure you have the right amount unless nexon fixed it now.

If you advance at any time during the 1st job levels now, you'll get your points without penalty. They really coddle the newer generation.

Right, pumping INT doesn't work, because it takes away the extra MP you got when it resets all your AP.
