Summer Games Done Quick 2014, June 22-28
#1
Once again it's time for Summer Games Done Quick, a week-long speedrun marathon running from the 22nd through the 28th of June, that will be raising money for Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières).

Held this year at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Denver, Colorado, and hosted by the speedrunners of Speed Demos Archive and Speed Runs Live, this will be a non-stop marathon over the course of 7 days (and a few days extra for the bonus stream) which will include games old and new, spanning across every generation of console and thoroughly destroying many games you know and love (or despise).

Over their history, the Games Done Quick marathons have managed to raise over $2,000,000 collectively for various charities, such as the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, the Organization for Autism Research, and many others.

There are also many donation incentives, such as extra games, additional handicaps or playstyles, races, or even entirely different runs of the same game. Also, there are prizes drawn for most games and a grand prize for each block, many of them handmade, rare, or expensive.

You can find the home page here: https://gamesdonequick.com/

and the schedule here: https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule

As always, I hope you all drop in and check it out!

The hype is always real for the GDQs! I'm sad I'm going to miss the first 5-6 hours of the start due to being out of the house.

Pretty cool feature / system to do if you're like me and don't pay attention to the time / clock.
I set it up last night on my iphone and I get notice alerts 10 minutes before each run starts.

mfw multiple comments (not people reading the comments) think this GDQ is for cancer research as well. Reading is hard apparently.

Does it matter really? Donations are donations. Their fault they donated for the "wrong cause".

Looks like there's a huge amount of drama going on about the technical issues for SGDQ. Can't really blame them as there's been video and audio issues since the marathon has started and it seems to be getting worse.
