Intrepid Slash vs. Mihile's Soul Driver
#1
Using a fast(5) sword and level 30 IS, what level of SD and how many enemies does it take for SD to do better DPM?
How about level 32 IS?
Bonus question: How about with Speed Infusion?

I would like to know this as well, but at what level is Mihile's Soul Driver better than level 10 Brave Slash (that's what level mine is and will be for a very long time. XD)?

i looked around and couldn't find any other topic like this one
http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=3217

except that which has all the normal 6 speeds by fiel, but i have no idea how to transform those to fast5/3 speed (pretty sure it isn't even possible without field testing) i have been wondering the same thing about SD and fury/buster

It takes 4 enemies to outdamage Brave Slash, quite literally. Brave Slash at level 30 averages at about 19-23% more DPS(DPM). This is at its current standing of 250% x 4 and 210% x 3 for the two skills. In Chaos (assuming Soul Driver's damage doesn't change), Brave Slash will be 27-32% stronger and in Jump! it will outdamage it equally, but you will actually deal more DPS(DPM) to 4 monsters with Brave Slash than Soul Driver does to 5 monsters.

do you have the speeds for the skills/a way to calculate them? i have been trying to figure this with buster/fury, but so far been unable due to lacking buster speed with a polearm/spear at fast4 and faster3 speed, same with fury

and SD got nerfed after chaos, for both adventurers and cygnus, i can't remember how much, but it should be on one of fiel's modules/extractions

EDIT:
Dusk Wrote:Found the info on the changed Ultimate Adventurer skills:

Soul Driver Lv. 5: MP 25, hit 6 mobs for 180% damage 4 times
Flame Gear Lv. 5: MP 35, 15 second gears, 35% damage, 8 seconds of 100% damage per second
Wind Piercing Lv. 5: MP 27, 750% damage on up to 6 mobs
Vampire Lv. 5: MP 24, hit 6 mobs for 90% damage 4 times, absorb 5% damage as HP
Shark Wave Lv. 5: MP 35, 510% damage on up to 6 mobs

All UA skillls seem a bit more usable now.

so yea, SD after chaos is ugh tier.

I used this thread as a reference. I'm aware that Soul Driver's delay on there is a bit off, but the overall number shouldn't change too much. I know there's a way to calculate it, I just can't recall where I saw it.

iirc SD is 1601 delay. guess i'll have to deal with those numbers in the meantime i guess.

and yep, SD beats every single skill of ours except buster with a polearm on 3-, not including sacrifice, but that is on it's own tier of OPness

So, if I understood this right, Level 30 Intrepid Slash with a (Boosted) Fast(5) sword does (210% * 3 * num_targets) damage every 690ms, making
913% total damage per second if one enemy (assuming no Enrage, also leaving Final Attack aside for now)
1826% if two enemies
2739% if three

Mihile's Soul Driver does, at level 5, 250% * 4 * num_targets every 1350ms, making
740% total damage per second if one enemy
1480 if two
2220 if three
2960 if four
3700 if five
So ghostofhalo is correct in saying it takes 4 targets to outdo IS.

Right now my SD is only level 3, so 190% *4 per enemy, same slow speed. So I need 5 enemies to outdo IS.
And if I happen to have CO, which affects IS but not SD, I might as well not bother using SD at all.

*sigh*
I suppose I must level it to 5, then.
