Connecting to College Internet for Pokemon?

Hey guys.

I'm trying to find out how to connect my nintendo DS (its the old original kind) to my college's internet. I know I can't directly link to it because the college uses authentician process where you need to input both user name and password (and sadly you just can't do that for nintendo products)

Was wondering what other options I have? Because really I think being at the college is the only way I'll ever be able to use entra link xD

I've done google searching for the past 2 hours, failed to come up with anything decent.

Windows System is Vista. User Acer Laptop if that matters. My laptop can connect to the internet just fine when I log in with my username and pass.

Any help is appreciated.

Um, I'm pretty sure you can enter usernames and passwords for Nintendo products. Just not at the DS home screen, but at the Pokemon home screen. Look around a bit.

Of course it could be on the regular DS screen but I don't have my sister's DS right now to check, but I know you can definitely do it.

Use a wireless router. That's what I usually have to do. Either that, or you can play around with network sharing on your laptop while it's wired. I've never been able to get that to work though.

I've been fiddling around the pokemon screen right now for the past hour. All i get is search for access point as an option. I do that, i find my college's intenret. I click on that, and it tries to connect. It then fails to connect. It never prompts me for my user name or pass after that. Don't know what to do =/

Tried network sharing but I think I did something wrong xD. Wouldnt work. Also I commute, and I don't really want to carry a wireless router everywhere I go in my bag =P Like I said, I want to link to the internet to see if I can do entralink in Pokemon, not that very important =P

You go to Georgia Tech, right? We don't allow wireless broadcasting on campus.

@OP: Check to see if your college supports DS connectivity. Mine doesn't, because the DS can only connect to 802.11b networks, which have very limited range. If it does, then you should be able to log in via the same page your computer logs in. Is there some sort of "log in external device" option? You just need your DS's MAC address.

Entralink doesn't use the internet though, its wireless communications with other people that have the game in your area.

Can't. Because Pokemon White is the only DS game I currently own =P Bought a DS just for it lol (well that and okamiden, which I plan to get later <3)

Ill think about getting other games after those two, but yea, back to problem =S

Doesn't the C Gear need to be on in order to access other DS? And in order for the C Gear to be on, it needs to connect to the internet...right?

Also unrelated question: Has anyone figured out how far a DS can be from the other in order to Entralink? It's been bugging me ever since the thing was first talked about and no one ever had an answer.

Nope, you can have C-Gear on without being connected to the internet.

._. *bangs head against lap top. Wasted two hours for nothing lol But then what is with the signal strength thing when I step on the entralink bridge? That was the reason why I thought i needed internet.

But question still remains, how far can the DS be apart?

When you step on the bridge, the signal in the corner tests your connection with someone else, not your connection to the internet, so you're fine.

Oh well, at least I got wi-fi at my house so i can do dream world, i guess thats what really counts.

Just for the record, what does it mean when the C gear keeps flashing red in the middle? It means no internet service right?
