Is it too early for us to raise our base stats?
#21
Assuming the 130/140 equips will be harder to obtain than timeless gear, if you are funded enough to be considering using the 130/140 equips, you shouldn't have problems reaching the secondary stat goal without adding a lot of base stats.

For my outlaw, which I hope will be a level 140 by the Summer, I'll be getting these new equips, provided they are obtainable, even if I need to add on to my base STR. The +45 Attack and 15% HP boost seems great, and I just hope Yellonde will be able to have some of those items on the market. Better start saving White Scrolls and Two-Handed 50's.

Sorry, I just keep hoping that people aren't going to shove thousands of dollars in Cube purchases at Nexon every time new gear comes out. Naive assumptions Tongue

Personally I'm not bothering to put any dex onto my Aran, the way I see it the ways to obtain the 140 items is hard as crap so I doubt i'd ever get my hands on one. Not sure how we get 130 weapons but i'm sure it costs quite a bit. I'd rather just stay dexless and risk the chance of being a tiny bit weaker then people who can afford these weapons then to raise my stats and be pomegranate out of luck.

I'm sure NexonAM will make the equips gachable, or obtainable in SOME way cash-wise. They always fucking do. But either way, I don't think it's worth worrying about right now, since cygnus is the only known way to obtain the equips, and that pomegranate's difficult as all hell / near impossible.

I don't think Nexon would retroactively change all equips to require secondary stats. It's just too much work.

And, here are the recipes for the level 130 set, they all follow the same pattern, more or less. Keep in mind, you still need to find the actual recipe to be able to make the item.

They all require (or recommend) Level 10 Smithing/Creator
Dunno what drops the recipes (I think they're most easily gotten from those PvP Mystery Recipes)
Dunno how to get Superior Crystals (Is disassembling the only way to get crystals?)
Superabrasives can be bought from an NPC in the Profession map for 50k (the last of the labeled bottles standing upright (varnishes), it's like, dark brown with a green/yellow cap)

 Helmet
 Cape
 Gloves
 Overalls
 Shoes
 Weapon

Depending on how you score points in PvP for the Sign of Ares and how come recipes are, this could be pretty difficult, so I wouldn't hold your breath for these. No point in raising your base stats for something you probably won't get any time soon.

I'll wake up this thread again

For Arans, there is a point. From the posts Spadow made about Signs of Ares, it won't be THAT hard. Fast PA WILL be worth it in GMS. Raising dex to like 40-50 isn't killing any builds, cause Arans need 80 dex to equip their current best end game weapon in gMS. Yes, we can get that 80 from equips, but when we have higher base, we can get more str in equips. Not to mention that when you have higher base, it will be way easier to get 160dex from equips, with some % potential equips.

I already made mistake when I didn't rise LUK on my Bishop, cause I didn't know enough about how potential/BB formulas work. Now my lukless is completely useless, cause my Aran deals like 3 or 4 times better dps. I am not repeating the mistake with my Aran.

note: I have raised my base to 20

I didn't say it wasn't worth it, I said there was no point if you couldn't get the weapon. Sure you can raise your base DEX, but that doesn't mean you'll get the PA.

From what we've seen, the highest ranked players in a PvP match get about 150 Battle Points, that means, at best they can get 21 Sign of Ares. Keep in mind that this is Tespia and they could end up getting way less in the actual server. But what do the losers get? We don't know. If you do happen to be awesome at PvP, it's likely for you to get the PA if they keep the same Battle Point system they have in kMST. They might not give the same amount of Battle Points per battle, or they might not give as many Signs per Battle Point, or a combination of both.

Assuming only level 130 equip recipes are available through the mystery recipe, you have a 1/30 chance of getting the one you want, and it costs 1 Mark per try. Even if you could accumulate the amount of Signs that it takes to make the PA, you might not even be able to get the recipe.

So in summary, being able to wear the equip and being able to get the equip are two different things, and I don't see a point in raising your second stat to wear something you might not be able to get your hands on. That's like buying a DVD player when you don't have, or can't get, any DVDs. I'm all for higher base stats, but if it's not doing you any good... well, it's not doing you any good.

More like buying dvds before a dvd player is available - but eventually DVD players did become available and with even more time they became cheap and easily accessible. Never hurts to be ready. Mages did it with Elemental Wands and Staves before they came out and those who really wanted them found ways to get them.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
