Is there any series of games that were released on the PlayStation systems in order?

I mean like the first one in the series being released on the PlayStation, the second on the PS2, and the third on the PS3.

Not that I can recall. I do remember Digimon World 1-3 being on PS1, and the 4th installment being released on the Xbox though (which was awkward..). Then there's Medievil, there's a remake of the first game for the PSP. Other than that, not that I remember of. Sorry if this was slightly unrelated to your question, but this was all I coukd think of at the top of my head.

Oh, I think Persona 1 and 2 was for PS1. and Persona 2 was for PS2. Persona 3 and 4 was PS2 as well, I think.

I can think of quite a few game series that started on the Playstation, such as Gran Turismo or Metal Gear Solid. I'm pretty sure Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot both started on the PSX as well.

I can't think of any trilogies spread across all three consoles, though. Sorry.

Not quite a trilogy since the original was elsewhere and there's a so called Prequel on the 360. Don't have a PS3 yet, so I can't say they maintained quality or not.

The remainder of what I know either doesn't have a PS3 rendition yet, like Suikoden or Valkyrie Profile; or had way to many renditions to be somewhat like what you are asking, like Final Fantasy.

EDIT: I don't think the Star Ocean series' stories have much of anything to do with each other though, I've put off playing Star Ocean 2 for ages and never got around to it.

Star Ocean 1 and 2 are direct sequels. Star Ocean 4 seems to be that way also, with a main character from the Kenny family. Star Ocean 3 had a lot of references to 2 but then it ruins them all. Also Star Ocean 4 was released on the 360 first, and then the PS3. There is no prequel.

Shows how much I've been paying attention to game news lately. Budget and stockpile making me intentionally not look up things anymore so I can avoid temptation.

Yeah, while the game itself was fun, that plot twist in the middle of 3 made me rage.

But yeah, there are quite a few that go PS1-PS2 and a couple that go PS2-PS3, but not much out there that has spaned all three while remaining a console exclusive.

Does Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken and um Colin McRae count? xDD I've played them since PS1, though I dtiched Crash after the first PS2 game and Spyro after that horrible Hunter's Tail thing. Oddly enough I enjoy the old Colin Mcrae set up compared to the new ones xDD I dunno something about the system justd oesn't sit with me, the graphics are great though. Burnout didn't start on PSX did it? D: Hmm OH OH TOMBRAIDER! Yay for Tombraider. xD Other than those I'm not sure.

Crash and Spyro both had more than one release on the PlayStation.
