University / college .. Help :P
#1
Hello, so I'll try to get straight to the point in this thread instead of rambling on like I usualy do.

Long story short, I'm hellbent on becoming a game designer . I'm going to finish school in 4 months and I'm looking for a Uni/College where I can learn either Art or emm.. not really sure how this is called.. writing ... I suppose or would it be called liturature? .. humm you know. to be a writer.

I have american citizenship so I'm pretty much looking to either learn in the states . my current location ( israel ) or somewhere in nearby Europe.
I don't have a pomegranate ton of money. my parrents basicaly blew all their money on fast cars and giant mansions then retired so I pretty much can't ask them to pay for it. .. with that in mind.

I'm lost as to where to start looking for a college/uni and how to find a good one with a good reputation.
all help would be appreciated. ( p.s both my parrents never finished highschool so I don't know that much about uni/college to begin with. )

For game design, I think you'll need to major in computer related fields. Some universities with computer major offers game design option

Not necessarily. You can major in management as well and still be involved in game design, right?

What aspect of game design are you looking to get into? There's a lot of different ways to get into game design without actually programming.

The first thing that popped into my mind (I guess because I live in San Francisco)

http://www.academyart.edu/game-design-school/index.html

They're pretty damn expensive with the tuition though, so you'd have to bust your ass getting some grants/scholarships/what have you but I'm sure they're not the only school that offers it as a major.

Ooh, I also thought of http://www.sfai.edu/ which is also in the San Francisco area. Not exactly sure how reputable they are, but my sister and I took a tour of the place and it wasn't bad at all.
I'm not aware if they have Game Design (and I doubt), but I know they have endless art and writing/literature courses.

Also, here's a site where you can narrow down your search. From courses, to cost, to housing, whatever you want.
