Otaku Binary (Image Heavy)

Came across this randomly when I was absent-mindedly flicking through an old hard-drive. A comic I did during college with characters based on my IRL friends around 2006-2007. The nostalgia hit when I found it was like a rubber mallet to the head. I even made this thing its own myspace, which is still up but dead. Be warned, I was like "<333JAPAN" and thought the internet was omgawesum when I drew these, it obviously had an effect on the outcome...

(large potentially Hscroll-breaking images ahoy)

[spoiler=Leftover character uh,"concept art"]Note: the green was because I drew them on my folder, not paper. Alot of the concepts I drew never actually got used, I remember that much. This wasn't the entirity of the "concept art" that I did, just what was left over on my hard drive.

Ignore the generic writing, general disregard for human anatomy (even though I don't think I've improved much from then in that respect), awkward panel layout, constant fiddling with contrast to make up for my light ass shading and rampant inconsistencies just for a second and it could probably pass as a remotely decent comic. I doubt I'll continue it because I don't know how to make the story less lame and continuing it now would shred what little consistency it had left to pieces. Not in my random sketch thread as it's not representative of what I do now.

(Myspace URL if you're interested, all links are dead, it lies unused: http://www.myspace.com/otakubinary. "Mojiri" (in friends list, also unused) was another one of our weeaboo adventures. One day we thought "HEY LETS DO SOME SONGS IN JAPANESE WOULDN'T THAT BE COOL". Enjoy moar butchered japanese with an extremely obvious british accent, call it "art" if you really want)

LMAO. That's great. Thanks for the laughs.

I'd say I laughed hardest at the Japanese, since you butchered it so badly. XD

Nice drawings, by the way. You have potential with it, but it doesn't look like you put too much into it there.

That was pretty much the peak of my artistic talent 4 years ago. I spent at least 7 hours on each page, the more detailed ones would easily go up to 12 hours. Never studied anatomy, shading, composition, or any art theory for that matter at the time (becuase "it wasn't important") so it's not that surprising the quality of my art plateau'd around this point.
