Help me pick a DnD class
#1
My friend is planning to make a level 15 campaign, and I need to pick between four possible classes.

1. Rogue (We all know what they can do)
2. Binder (He can bind with spirits to give him certain abilities for the day/moment)
3. Dragon Shaman (Think a weaker cleric but with dragon flavor and support)
4. Melee Ranger

The melee ranger I just heard from my friend. I hear with the right feats they can dual wield 2 handed weapons in one hand in EACH hand. Think THIS:
 Holy pomegranate

Of course, granted the rogue and ranger are without any natural spell that can let them heal, but they will rack up damage like no tomorrow. Binder is very versatile because I can become a devoted healer one day, and be a pseudo warrior the next. Dragon Shaman is like the middle ground, not the best in either area, but very cool and full of support.

What version of D&D is this? I've never seen any player character be able to wield two normally-two-handed weapons unless they were substantially larger than the weapon (i.e. a flame giant wielding two human-sized greatswords).

3.5

Also, the feat that will let me do this is Monkey Grip, and then to really let the fun begin I'd need Improved Monkey Grip:

You can wield larger weapons than creatures of your size, even in your off hand.
Prerequisite: Str 15, Base Attack Bonus: +6, Monkey Grip, Two-Weapon Fighting
Benefit: As with Monkey Grip, but applies to off-hand as well

*Found info on Monkey Grip itself. Source is here, page 24 http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD...-Feats.pdf :

Monkey Grip
[General]
(CWar p103)
Prerequisite: Base Attack Bonus +1

You may use some weapons one size category larger than normal in exchange for a –2 penalty on attacks.
A Medium-sized character could use a Large-sized Longsword as a One-Handed Weapon.
This feat does not allow you to use an oversized double weapon or to wield an oversized Light weapon in
your off-hand.

I know dual wielding carries penalties, but if I go melee ranger, I get 3 ranger exclusive feats to let me dual wielding with little to no penalties: Combat Style, Improved Combat Style, and Combat Mastery. All that it requires is I have to wear armor that is no heavier than light. Of course, I can bypass that AC problem by wearing a Mithril piece of armor.

LOL I remember a friend of mine grappling a lich (DO NOT TOUCH!) and ended up wasting 4 of its rounds trying to get him off xDDD

It would help to know what your party mates are going to be, so you can cover each other's asses in certain professions. It should also generally be a given that multi-purpose classes aren't particularly strong in their areas, so if your party mates are all multis or w/e, avoid picking the Dragon Shaman.

Let's see, from what I know:

4 warriors type classes. I remember stuff like Ranger/Shadow Walker, Fighter/Paladin, forgot the other two. I think one MAY know healing spells.

A ranged specific ranger

A cohort cleric

*For Dragon Shaman, a saving grace is their auras and natural breath weapons. They got a healing aura that heals party members if they are less than 1/2 their max HP, which can in a sense be a free source of healing. For breath weapons, I'm leaning towards more a Silver Dragon totem so I'd get ice breath, which CAN be modified through feats to let me use it more often in battle (as often as once a turn), or make it so the breath lingers, damaging enemies in that area for an extended period of time. Allies will get hurt too, but with an Energy aura, they will be immune to my own breath weapons.

Healing spells are like a Paladin. They get a Lay on Hands, and Cure X Wounds spells. I think they get Cure Disease or something of that level.

Hmm, interesting. The Paladin would be the one with some healing btw, unless there's some prestige class out there I haven't heard of that also allows divine magic. It's not incredibly strong like a Cleric's though, especially since he's going multi.

So wait, there's going to be 6 of you, including yourself? I think you have enough melee people already xD Your party needs utilitarian abilities. (I'm not familiar with the Binder)

Use a heavy metal lover dwarf, that uses a busted guitar to attack. Make it a rogue.

Wait, what?

To Kajiti:

For more clarification on a Binder, turns out they don't get healing spells that can heal others, but they do get Fast Healing, meaning they can heal themselves up indefinitely. They are forced to use only simple weapons and light armor and I don't think know any spells other than to summon their Vestige, but they can change that through use of binding to their Vestiges. For example, by himself, he's probably weaker than any other class in the game. Binding with a Vestige though, can grant him abilities like a rogue, become invisible, gain natural weapons like horns/claws, to be able to equip plate and/or heavy weapons, to even becoming a spellcaster. At level 15, I believe he can bind with 3 vestiges, which of course makes room for versatility.
