What system do you use for stat distribution?

My friend's parents met in college over D&D back in the 70s. I've used their stash of the old school stuff to DM a few dungeons.

I hear the touch spells for clerics are just sickening because the dice roll needed to succeed is really low.

Basically, it's a fantasy role-playing game which you play with a few other people. You can think of it as a game where one of your friends acts as the controller who tells the story and designs encounters, while the rest of you will play along and explore the controller's scenarios. It requires creativity; both in the controller and players themselves.
