Maplestory is/was fun.

I don't see a single point of failure in the game, just that several changes happened over a period of time, combined with people changing attitudes/maturing to the point where they were not the demographic of the game anymore.

the only weird thing about this, Its only been the weird/bad patchtimes on this year.

Is there anything to talk about MapleStory anyway?
At this point I'm just hoping the Reboot server comes to GMS to try it out, other than that, Is there anything in the game to have a chat?

I think half if not more of SP users are waiting for other MMO's to release.

Or some of us wait for a good thread to hop on but are continuously disappointed because theres next to nothing going on patch wise for maplestory. Just the standard fare, skill changes and content that gets instantly forgotten.

went back to this forum cause of a facebook group i was added to for nostalgia reasons that made me remember this game again...

...but big bang signified the beginning of the nexon pay2win strat in full force that drove so many people away from this game and the game would be way more popular today if nexon had not gone the route it did when it initiated big bang way back in 2010

if big bang never happened the game would have died years ago from lack of content. Sure they could have went a different route but people would have still complained there's no winning when it comes to gaming communities. Honestly i can't believe this is still a topic lol.

I think the most accurate way to look at them is that while Post BB has really good moments every now and then (like the introduction of PvP for instance) it also suffers from a lot more things that are not so good. (like the removal of said PvP)

Where as Pre BB remained relatively consistent during its run but had less developed systems in some places. (like less of a bonus for having multiple characters)

For me I think it's the people here on SP don't want to talk about it. There's a few things we can talk about, speculate. We have a member of the MLC here on SP. We could talk about different things we could do to benefit the game. When the Aran and Evan revamp hits the test server and the next blockbuster hits we can talk about that.

For me Big Bang had revitalized my interest in the game. I have never quit and towards the end of a patchs life cylce I start to get worn down. New patches come out reviatlize me. Also the thought of upcoming content. I can't wait for Reboot and Kinesis. I have spent the summer and the last couple months preparing for it. Big bang was justified. Unleashed hurt the game but Reboot and patches leading up to it is putting the game back on the right track. The new 2D skeletal animation will open up a lot of possibilites. Urus is a good concept and I'm interested to see where it goes. Nexon has proven they don't need a former story to make something new (Urus) and now that they have made URus they can expand a story on him or that area. There are still unfinished theme dungeon revamps and more. This game has a lot of life left in it for content IMHO.

I have completed the calculations, rounded the decimals and added up the remainders. As of today, October 2015, I can state with a straight face, that Post Big bang Maple is an even match for Pre Big bang Maple.

The breakdown is as follows:
Pre BB
Biggest Pro - The best part about past Maplestory was that lots of people played it. (We may never know how or why this happened)
Biggest Con - Very challenging EXP curve.

Post BB (Only counting up to the present)
Biggest Pro - Large variety of classes. (meaning that nearly anyone can probably find at least 1 job that they really like)
Biggest Con - Lack of a unified game direction. (I guess you could say that the original formula got diluted a bit. (However one chooses to interpret that) Nx cash is included here but not by itself as it only played something of an indirect role. This is not the same as saying the game has no direction but that its different parts do not cooperate as well)

I am sure that everyone's list will vary slightly but this is how I see the results tallied up. If you are wondering what helped dig Post BB out of its hole, (in my book) it is simply that Maple did not get some of its "best" features until after it survived some of its worst miss steps. There were also a couple of little positive things that had a good impact. I did not make my statement open ended because the future could turn out to be anything. So rather than waiting for the game to get much better or for it to crash and burn, I will just consider the rest to be part of a new era.

*note, my thoughts for post BB is including content from other Maple versions like KMS, that might not have arrived in GMS yet.
