PIC Reset Security Campaign

Finally got in, found all my skills reset and my key configuration wiped. Accidentally maxed Blood Drain afterwards, so I couldn't max High Wisdom as a result. There goes 40 INT. Aggh.

I thought you could max all BaM second job skills if you did the quest.

You're supposed to be 5 SP short of maxing all of your second job skills. I was supposed to put 10 into Blood Drain and 5 into High Wisdom, but accidentally put 15 into Blood Drain instead, leaving me with none for High Wisdom.

It doesn't even matter if dedicated hackers bypass right through it.

You can definitely max all your second job skills if you do one of the battle mage job quests (I forget which one, but you get 6 SP from it). I just checked my BaM and all second job skills are maxed.

Correct, there's a quest you need to do for some extra SP in 2nd job then you can max everything.

Makes me wonder why so many people don't have access to the email their account is under.
I think people are overreacting. Your PIC (and password) need to be regularly updated to make sure your account is safe at all times.

Could I possibly still do that quest? Whats its name?

In 2006 GMail wasn't as widespread, lots of people probably signed up using an ISP email address that they no longer have. Or Yahoo, or what have you. There are plenty of free email services that'll cut you off if you don't use it much.

Well I haven't logged in all my accounts, but the 5 I logged in still have PICs. O.O I guess I reset my PICs last time there was an anoying change PIC button in the middle of the login everytime I logged in, so maybe that was "recent enough" even though I didn't really change them (because I just changed them back to what they were before - last time I selected a new PIC was last Oct/Nov/Dec or so when there was a big account theft scare).

Hotmail still existed though. My account was under my Hotmail first, then I moved it to a gmail that I made especially for MS.
Signing up for an account on a game like this using an email you'll never use or not even remember isn't really a smart move.

correlation is not causation, your staff is dumb, thank you, goodbye

1. Changing the pin won't make it less hackable. someone can still break into it whenever they choose, and 3 months is ample time even to just crack it.

2. Even if I never changed my pin since the beginning of time, only a database leak would affect this.

3. Perhaps most people get hacked when they don't change their pins because THE MAJORITY OF PLAYERS DON'T CHANGE THEIR PINS, not because changing the pin prevents hackings.

Use some logic if you're going to make decisions that affect everyone in the game.

What about people who can't get into the game during the summer for some reason? Now their accounts are going to sit for 3 months with no PIN.

Good going.

The f`uck is this garbage? This is like standard sh`it. They have to force players like you to update their security so you don't come foaming at the mouth later.

Any level of security is still security.

....Okay, so you contradict point number 1. You're saying that it's "use" is valid until nexon f`ucks up specifically and leaks your pin information, yet claim that such an accessory can be cracked anytime? Get your sh`it together. Putting numbers like you have some intelligent developed list doesn't mean I'm not going to read the f`ucking content.

They want you to update your account information, the easiest most convenient way is your pin. What you want them to do a national forced password reset? I suggest you apply your own goddamn logic on their decision rather on how you can poke imaginary holes on them. We had a database leak once, and I assume it's because it wasn't hacked into but given to someone, so they recommend you change your information so that if it were to happen again, those scripts would be inaccurate. Every company has this problem, even the government so I suggest you get some life lessons before spouting such downright nonsense. The only valid point to be made is the lack of communication of this implementation, which was apologized for.

...Yeah because a pin number is this line of defense as your password has already been cracked. Give me a break, you guys think hackers are these masters when they are just exploiters who take advantage of glitches/other peoples work. There is a reason there hasn't been a 'mass" database leak since like 2010, because the information hasn't been handed to them like previously.

The guy whose post you just tore apart made that same point. Make up your mind.

I dont think this affected me, at least I havent noticed anything. I still get the prompt to change my pic.... and I still haven't... Tongue I swear I'll get around to it. Eventually. Someday...

A pin number still has relevance but for you to sit here and claim your account will be suddenly vulnerable is just asinine. You'll live, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's worthless, as it's another layer.
