Final Fantasy Tactics is a pretty old game; it's true. The graphics are certainly not next-gen, the equipment and job selections are rather limited, and the overall difficulty's very tame. Despite these flaws, there are still many websites devoted to the discussion of it; one of which is called Final Fantasy Hacktics, and I've been a member there for over half a year.
The difference between this site and every other are their purposes. While others are purely for fans to discuss the base game, users of Hacktics actually edit the content of it. Using tools found in various places on the site, you're actually able to edit most any value found in the data, meaning if you've ever felt Squires should be able to wield guns and spears, you're able to. It gets much deeper than that, though, which becomes obvious once you take a look at the forums.
In the forums, there are entire sections devoted solely to spriting (yes, inserting custom sprites), users' projects, ripped data, tools, etc. The bigger projects which have shown significant progress are given individual sections, as are seemingly complete revamps of the game.
If you're interested in patching Tactics on your own, you'll definitely want to lurk alot. All of the necessary tools can be found on the main page and you'll require basic knowledge of the processes in order to get anywhere. You'll also need a working ISO. Hell, I was tweaking only a few days after first discovering the site, myself.
Keep in mind that most projects are works in progress and if you do end up joining their forum, please represent SP as well as possible.

It's too good to pass on.
