Nostalgia of Pre-BigBang Maplestory
Remember angelia? She was my favorite blogger at the time and my inspiration. Such a shame her blog got deleted. But you can still see some (if not most) of her entries here:http://web.archive.org/web/*/iangelial.wordpress.com

Does anybody knows of other blogs like that? I'd like to read a couple more of them, for nostalgia purpose.

I even have a playlist of music which I listened while grinding at certain levels.
Since I only and ever play my bowmaster I have fond memories of sniping newties, using advanced tactics to tackle them Wolfspiders (and survive!) and becoming 4th job not more then 3 months before BB hit EMS.

So many memories, so many good ones.

Though I'd like to add this:
I did like pre-bb and I like post-bb.
After all the upgrades an patches Maplestory has gone trough I still like the game as much as I did before.
And aldo you could argue that potential&shet broke the game...I still, still love it.

completely this^
i remember sniping newties to get to 120 with my hermit. i trained a heck of a lot at wolf spiders. they don't even exist anymore as far as i know. i remember thinking ludi was the place the pro people hung out and coming along with my higher level friends to fight pap, and it was a real fight that lasted minutes, not a few hits. selling zak helms and runs with my guild. APQ was way more popular, you could always find parties. spamming gen with my bishop to level her pretty fast at skeles. i even sold leech a few times. training at peak with a friend. when my sin was level 5x i remember going up to zombies to hide from my buddy stalkers because they were all lower level and couldn't get up there Rolleyes
good memories i'll have for the rest of my life.
but as messed up economically and level-wise maple's become, with people duping and hacking to reach 200, i still love it. i pretty much play maple alone, so i'm not really affected by others' ridiculous ranges etc. i just look around, do quests, and evo. Poast
One of the things I loved back in Pre Big Bang was training in Deep Ludibrium in 2007.

I was a simple Priest and I trained with my old guild there. While the exp was slow and vigorous, I enjoyed the atmosphere. And then after we got tired of training, we went to Papulatus. Of course I think we only killed him like, three times out of the twenty we tried. I still had lots of fun though!

I think what I overall miss was knowing Level 80+ took dedication to hit and people praised you for it. You could praise yourself even, because 5% / Hour was not the greatest. Over time, the game's leveling speed grew and it was a better decision because grinding was awful at that time. I just liked the sense of accomplishment at being a level where not many people are. Now a days, Level 200 is the new Level 30.

Also that music:
I felt the need to comment on this thread as I've been playing ever since global beta back in 2005 with many breaks since then but the best gaming memories come from here.
I'll list quite a few things I remember from the early times, I was never a hardcore player so even if I played the whole 2005-2008 I never reached lvl 120 before 2009.
There are some things people may have pointed out already.

-Everybody remembers the starting island, the excitement of starting a new journey, screwing up stats trying to make a dexless sin or a sin-dit (which I never understood)
-You remember queuing up for Kerning PQ where Lakelis (the damn strict woman) who only let 1 party inside at a time. I still have the piece of paper where I wrote the names of people I had a lead on.. /find TigaaSin, xxxDexLessxxx
-The old maps, the annoying Jr.Boogies you could never hit and your journey deep inside Sleepywood dungeons at lvl 20.. The first huge task of collecting Cursed Amulets from Zombie mushies.. The Jr.Neckie quest which you got at lvl 15 but couldn't finish until 30s as #1 Their agility was too high 2# you could never find enough of them. And what about 1000 cursed dolls..? Great.
-The first Zakum helmet!! Everybody was crazy and he was like a god for many..
-The amazing wild boar grinding spot at perion.
-The super cool high leveld (70s) mages killing rogs on way to Orbis..
-The perion 'people's market' during the early days.. I still have screenshots lurking in some of my old cds, I will post them here If I can find them..
-And even though the world used to be just a small fragment of what it is now, it felt huge.. much bigger than it is now.
-What about all the friends you had, the amount of grinding, hene h0aring..
-Then Ludibrium came, a whole new world to explore! Tiger was popular but later found out he was a hacker, such a shame Sad
-The (holy c*ap) amount of people at LPQ.. and how everything you did in the world felt much greater than it does now. Nothing feels the same but the game is still addicting as hell so the developers have done something right..
I probably forgot a lots of things already but it's nice to have a nostalgic journey every now and then!
I'm currently staying in Seoul and it's wonderful to see all the maplestory ads and how big the community still is in Asia, I'm changing to KMS this fall as the amount of people in GMS/EMS is decreasing and the publishers keep pissing people off.

-Awe
That feeling of waking up on the morning 4th Job was released. That feeling of shooting Storm of Arrows for the first time. Will never forget.

I remember seeing posts about your BM back on Sleepywood. Your bowmaster was my inspiration to move to bowman Smile
I miss when Wizet use to ban people and all the blue notices of the bannings. Made me feel good to know that they were doing their job.

Aww, glad to know I inspired someone ^_^. This game is good memories all around. This game is the reason I moved to the city I'm in, the reason I have such a good friend here, and a lot of other stuff too.
I actually preferred the old maplestory over the new maplestory.

Fighting over platforms at golems
Going to gobies and joining a goby party for the first time (super fun as a crusader)
Searching forever for Nependeath Honey
Seeing goby houses flying across a map and that being the worst hack of the time
When NLC first came out, boomers!
Training at gryphons
When NLC had the new part added to it, that was awesome too. Bigfoot, the caves, and all the rest of it (and now it is largely ruined. I wish they'd put it back how it was, after all the hard work they put into it... I still can't figure out, WHY ON EARTH DID THEY RUIN IT THE WAY THEY DID?)
The maps layout in Victoria Island was great fun to explore. It isn't an adventure anymore. The tree that connects all the Vic island places together is just stupid
Pap and Pianus used to take effort to kill
The simplicity of the scrolling system. It is now too complicated.
The fact that if you needed some mesos, you could go kill some mini bosses and get some nice scrolls to sell, and that'd be nice mesos. Now it's just nothing.
Party quests, and especially the bonus room. And the CLICK CLICK CLICK OMG CLICK

I guess I even miss the obnoxious dexless sins...
I haven't seen a sin in a long time :-(
Arrg Wrote:My favorite moment that ever happened in gms was when NLC came out. Nobody got the chance to explore it before us, it didn't come straight from kms, it was a gigantic surprise because nobody knew what was to come.
Golden age of Krypton, I mean Maplestory. The smart thing to do would probably be to forget about Maplestory but I still wanted to comment in this nice thread.

Nexon should track down the developers who had a hand in crafting that area and BEG for them to return. This would be the first step in making sure that Maplestory 1 does not get steam rolled by Maplestory 2.
Uhhh. That... date difference tho? :f6:
It had to be Pikamemnon :3
