Nowadays MS is about having all the link skills, best cards, spend tons of NX for damage, have full equip sets, rush to level X, etc...
Probably starting completely anew with no attachments gives the feeling of discovering everything again, starting fresh, full of wonder, etc. However, I'm pretty sure that it would be a temporal feeling, if anything, and power creep would start biting your mind again after you spend a little too much on a character.

I suspect the extent of power creep has ruined 2nd job even for unfunded characters. I mean, I played a statless DB to level 70 and I was 1hkoing the regular mobs despite having 4 base luk+dex. I think I had about 1/3 of an unfunded char's total luk (rings, witch hat, etc.).

I mean, I played when 3rd job was an accomplishment. Now it's a couple hours.
