MS disconnects after a short time
#1
Son's friend downloaded MS to his computer, and is trying to run it.
No matter what he does, after what appears to be a set time (he didn't time it, seems to be a minute or so) he gets a "disconnected from login server" message. Frown

The farthest he was able to get was the "Create a Character" screen, and he was choosing its face and hair when he d/ced. Other times it was at the login screen, or entering the PIN.

I suspect this has something to do with anti-virus settings on the computer, not something in MS, but I don't know.

Anyone familiar with this problem?

I know that if you take too long to actually create the character it automatically dc's you (this prevents perfect dice rolls and increases ap reset sales for nexon)

Also, If you take too long to actually put your password or pin number into the login screen it will dc you after that as well. Often, after this type of dc occurs you must restart your computer. It has something to do with gameguard and the fact that it is already running. (I think)

Anyways, hope this helps!

Ah, yes, if he's taking one full minute to log in, it would probably dc.

Tell him to type his password faster Excellent.

What antivirus does he have, anyways?

I actually have the same problem on my older computer ( pentium4, 512mb ram). I'm guessing it could be that the maplestory client has now become so complex that our processors aren't able to compute it all in one go around to the ram.

I have to relaunch MS, about on average, 3 times for it to load.
