Some of you may remember my thread in the General Section.
Has anyone seen a Zakum Diamond drop? Or can anyone confirm that it drops? I have yet to see any update on this, and I'm tempted to log a ticket to Nexon about this issue.

I've been on tons of runs since the new set came out. I haven't seen a single Zakum Diamond or heard of anyone finding one.

I was afraid of that =( I even know many of Khaini's prestigious members, and not even a rumor about this Zakum Diamond.
I've sent a ticket to Nexon.
Quote:To whoever it may concern,
In iTCG set 5, the main theme is surrounded by ancient El Nath and Zakum. According to the stories by Adonis the NPC, the requirements to upgrade iTCG5 equipment include a Zakum Diamond, to which one's understanding is that getting the said Diamond would requiring battling Zakum.
Up to this point, not one person has confirmed having even seen a Zakum Diamond. Some testimony even comes from players that have went on Zakum runs and killed it frequently every week. Even throughout the vast community network that high leveled MapleStory players take part of, there has not been a single report of a Zakum Diamond being found.
I would like to ask that you will look into this matter and see if the Zakum Diamond does drop from Zakum or any monsters unique to Zakum.
Sincerely,
--Kajitii, lvl 143 Paladin

Geez, it must be friggin' rare or something o.O yeah I wouldn't trust that. You know how many times they've said "lol it drops you're just unlucky" and then like 3 months later were like "Oh shi- it really doesn't drop" >_>
Pap's curl as an example of this.

Yea, right.
NEXON, at least admit your mistakes. Nobody got it after 1 month+ and it can't be so rare. If it is, you seriously should change the drop rate, because Zakum should at least drop it 1/5. Remember it is a boss, not a monster.
Fact: NEXON likes to
1. Screw up things
2. Put very low drop rates, making new items (expecially Masteria quest items) TOO HARD to get.

Maybe you have to have dead people on the altar to turn into Zakum Diamonds? That's the impression I got, they appear over ghosts.

Lore-wise, it makes sense, in-game wise, its idiotic if it works.

Human sacrifice, eh? Me likee... However, I find it hard to believe nobody has died at Zakum in the past month.
A couple of possibilities that occur to me:
1. The diamonds do drop, server-side. However, the client doesn't let you see them, because they are Quest Items and it thinks you don't have an active quest that requires them. The initiation of Adonis' quest is somewhat glitchy, and the quest appears "ready to complete" (closed book) immediately. When you look at it in your quest log, it doesn't say it needs any objects.
If one had access to the item data, one might check whether they are indeed Quest Items.
Further, if one had a packet-sniffer that knows what item-drop packets look like, one might be able to check that nothing dropped that you can't see.
2. The diamonds aren't supposed to drop from Zakum. You get them by clicking on some innocuous part of the scenery in the Altar room (like Abel's glasses hidden in the grass). You may want to hover your curser over every pixel in that map, just to make sure it doesn't "talk".
Or, if one had an extractor, one might check for unaccounted-for clickable areas in the map.wz entry for the Altar. Or just if anything changed in that room between versions 0.61 and 0.62.

Doesn't mean they stayed dead to the end of the boss, most groups bring Bishops and if it's an important person they resurrect, if not they generally leave (omg you make altar laggy)

Is an interesting idea, I'll look into this. I don't think this is the case, though; the quest is just an explanation of what's going on, and they put it in the quest log to get people's attention.
2. They'd have had to add an invisible NPC for this, which they didn't do.
edit:
checked, they are untradeable, but not quest items.

This happened one time. Well, not the same scenario actually.
The zrun leader wanted to share one priest/bishop's HS for everyone. Zakum's mobs quickly got out of control, and at least four people died (no res), two in the corner, and two on the altar. Guess what! No Zakum Diamond >_>

Or just press the "Talk to NPC" hotkey. Way faster than trying to click for invisible NPCs, such as looking for Abel's glasses.

Really? I tried it in the Ariant quests, but it never worked, not even when I was standing on right on top of the NPC.

My political senses tell me that the answer I was given pertained to the message itself, and not the actual game xD I wouldn't be surprised if it was the wrong answer, since the game's being produced by several departments, which work independently for the most part.

I don't know what to tell you, except that they worked for Abel's Glasses quest.
