So can anyone tell me if the effects of the Shiny Charm also include breeding or is it just wild encounters?
From what I've read about people researching it, it's assumed that it does. If you also breed with a foreign pokemon, you'll be popping out shinies like no tomorrow. Except not really...

I am well aware of the Masuda Method, so that is what I am doing. ^u^
Are there any plans to make a team-building/team-help thread for X/Y? I'm trying to build a new semi-competitive team just for some casual online play and battles with friends, and I just felt like my team was either a little lop-sided or was just missing something. If anyone wants to take a look, maybe give some helpful tips or changes, this is the team I was planning:
Team (WIP)
Gengar w/ Gengarite
EVs: HP 4, S ATK 252, SPD 252
Nature: Timid
Ability: Levitate / Shadow Tag
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Focus Blast
Role: Big bad wolf of the team; comes in after things have been set-up or there are early problems and proceeds to just sweep as much as possible. Destiny Bond is there as a last ditch effort to take out an unbeatable threat. The other moves speak for themselves.
Clefable w/ Leftovers
EVs: S DEF 124, HP 252, DEF 132
Nature: Calm
Ability: Magic Guard
- Moonblast
- Moonlight
- Aromatherapy
- Toxic
Role: Basically just a filler Fairy-Type to deal with Dark/Fighting/Dragons--mainly Dragons. Also has the ability to cure my other Pokes of any ailments and can stall slightly with Toxic + Moonlight. I had a real hard time deciding on what Fairy to use, originally it was going to be Sylveon, but I'm not sure. I don't want to use Klefki cause I used it on my last playthrough of the game, and it's just boring to me to reuse the same Pokes. If you've got a better idea for a replacement, please, go ahead.
Greninja w/ Life Orb
EVs: DEF 6, S ATK 252, SPD 252
Nature: Naive
Ability: Protean
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump (Surf)
- Dark Pulse
- U-Turn
Role: Protean Greninja is just a badass. He's such a bully, with his ever-changing Typing, it's hard to stand-up against him. Plus you always get STAB bonus. Just essentially designed to destroy the opponent's team as much as possible before fainting.
Talonflame w/ Leftovers
EVs: HP 80, ATK 252, SPD 176
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Gale Wings
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Swords Dance
Role: Physical sweeper. Priority Flying-Type moves is fantastic; hits hard, hits fast, and has the ability to also heal off residual damage for the most part.
Goodra w/ Assault Vest
EVs: S DEF 8, S ATK 252, HP 248
Nature: Calm
Ability: Gooey
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Tail
Role: Super tanky pseudo-legendary! What more could you need? Takes Special Attacks like a pineappleing adamantium wall. Also has decent Special Attack to boot, allowing you to deal some damage back while taking the hits. Assault Vest just makes Goodra even tougher.
Ferrothorn w/ Rocky Helmet
EVs: DEF 48, S DEF 208, HP 252
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Iron Barbs
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
Role: Support. Handicap the opponent's Pokes with Leech Seed and Paralysis, gain lost health back due to Seed, all whilst laying layers of Spikes on the field to deal just that extra bit of damage. Power Whip is there to give Ferrothorn at least one attacking move, and honestly it still packs a punch, still taking chunks out of Pokes weak to Grass-Type.
SuperNerd I'll give it a shot, though I do think there's an older thread for this kind of stuff. I like using bReakMyTeam when I make teams, just to see if I have any glaring weaknesses.
ramble
Gengar: Not a fan of Destiny Bond on Mega-Gengar, since most things that will take you out have priority or are Scarfed. Seems like a wasted moveslot to me. Maybe grab Substitute instead, to ease your fears of fast, frail Scarfers and priority users. Dazzling Gleam and Thunderbolt are also nice choices for their respective coverage.
Clefable: Eh. If you're going to use a Fairy as a Cleric, I much prefer Sylveon or Florges. They can WishPass, but you'll either have to drop Protect, Aromatherapy/Heal Bell or Toxic.
Greninja: Not a fan of using Greninja as a scout. U-Turn's damage output is kind of pitiful. Personal opinion: I'd pick either Grass Knot or Extrasensory over U-Turn.
Talonflame: The EVs are oddly specific... Are you having lots of trouble with positive base 101s (i.e. Thundurus-T)?
I don't like using Pokemon 4x weak to Rock without a Defogger/Magic Bouncer/Rapid Spinner. Roost helps somewhat, but when you have to pick between Roost to avoid KOing yourself from recoil, Swords Dance to actually do some damage and an attack, you'll be hitting yourself for not getting rid of Stealth Rock first.
Goodra: Pretty standard fare besides Dragon Tail. If you're going to phaze someone out, you better have some Hazards up to get that residual damage going. Spikes is hard to set up and can be easily taken care of by most Defoggers, since they aren't even affected by them.
Ferrothorn: Like I said, Stealth Rock over Spikes.
Thanks for the site; didn't know about but I'll definitely make use of it.
Spoiler
Originally I did have Dazzling Gleam there, but I had a lot of trouble deciding between that or Destiny Bond. The only reason I went with Destiny Bond is because I figured if Mega Gengar couldn't take the opponent out with its immense S ATK stat and Speed, that I could at least take the opponent down with me, but you make a good point.
*headdesk* I feel dumb. The main reason I went with Clefable over Sylveon is because I accidentally mistook Magic Guard as Magic Bounce. Overlooking things again, I now realize they are, in fact, quite different. Well, I'm most definitely going to work Sylveon in instead.
The reason I had U-Turn for the final slot was because everyone else I talked to and other articles/guides I've read about Greninja all suggested that it was essentially mandatory to keep momentum going and to preserve Greninja. Before that, I did have Grass Knot and used it quite often and it definitely gave great coverage.
As for Talonflame... my mistake again. I used the wrong Talonflame set-up from my documents. (I keep all this stuff in documents to stay organized, but I also my friend's stuff written down, as he refuses to ask anyone else for help.) My EVs are your typical DEF 4, SPD 252, ATK 252.

Wow, amazing website. I didn't even know about it (I use mariland for that >_>).
Quote:Three new moves have been discovered through hacking X and Y. The first one appears to be an event-exclusive move in the vein of Celebrate, the second two may have something to do with Zygarde. It has also been discovered through hacking that Hoopa's Ability is Magician and its stats are 80/110/60/150/130/70. Volcanion's ability is Water Absorb and its stats are 80/110/120/130/90/70.
Hold Hands, Normal-type, Special, Power: --, Accuracy --, PP: 40
The user and an ally hold hands. This makes them very happy.
Thousand Arrows, Ground-type, Physical, Power: 90, Accuracy: 100, PP: 10
This move also hits opposing Pokemon that are in the air. Those Pokemon are knocked down to the ground.
Thousand Waves, Ground-type, Physical, Power: 90, Accuracy: 100, PP: 10
The user attacks with a wave that crawls along the ground. Those hit can't flee from battle.
So now we have 3 useless moves with Splash, Celebrate and Hold Hands. Okay...
Thousand Arrows and Thousand Waves sound amazing. I wonder if they have to do with Zygarde's signature move, Land's Wrath (same type, same BP, same PP).

I wonder if it'll get a Forme Change or held item to affect which version of the move it gets? Arrows sounds the best of the 3, but all of them are impressive.
Dunno if anyone else saw this, but... in honor of (almost) 100-million trades via GTS, they'll be giving out a Vivillon with a new, unique pattern as the next special distribution event. I say almost because they are technically only at around 90-million, so they won't do this until 100-million is actually hit.
The other special Vivillon pattern (Pokeball Vivillon) is already being distributed too at Poke Centers in Japan. in case anyone was wondering. So it's likely we aren't going to get them, unless the pattern is breedable.
