Reminds me a lot of a Magnolia because the petals and, from what I can see, the leaves look very thick. However, I'm not sure.

It's definitely not a magnolia. Magnolias don't have that cluster in the middle, and they're not six-petaled on the outside either.
It actually looks like a composite of two flowers, but hey, I'm not a botanist.
//edit: Hm, looks like the white kind of magnolia does have six petals on the outside. But that doesn't explain what appears to be a chrysanthemumlike... thing... stuck in the middle of it.

The centre part looks a bit like a dahlia, but I've not seen one exactly like that.

place of origin would be helpful for identification since there's kind of a bajillion species of plants with white flower petals...

I assume those are the leaves in the background apply to the flower. It limits the search by a lot if it is.
