Speakers (or computer) dying?
#1
So every once in a while, I lag (in both MS and Firefox). When I lag, my sound gets REALLY choppy, slows down, etc. I CCleaner'd my registry, thinking it might be a registry error or something, and checked to make sure none of my audio files are corrupt, but it still happens. Also, my computer is experiencing some slowdowns, especially at startup.

I haven't virus/spyware scanned in a while, so I'll do that tonight while I'm in bed, but I need some other suggestions if that doesn't help. :[

[COLOR="Indigo"]Do you have any other programs running while you're on MS? Are you running Vista or XP? Which service pack?
(For XP ,you can check that by right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties; in Vista, hit the Start menu button, right-click on Computer and choose properties).

Have you noticed issues in any other programs?

sounds like you need a system maintenance.

Delete unnecessary files.

Use CCleaner again to clean out your recycle and temp files.

Defragment your hard drive.

Run Spy-Bot Search and Destroy for spyware

Last, post your system specs.

You stated your problem as, "When I lag, my sound gets REALLY choppy, slows down, etc."

That pretty much already tells you the problem. Your computer is unable to keep up with the processes that you are trying to run, so in an effort to try and process them all at once, it "slows down".

There could be the possibility that spyware/viruses are eating up the
processor's cycles though (which would also cause these slowdowns).

I recommend that you just reformat your computer, and start new.
