Disabling screenshots.
#1
Yeah. So, my computer runs fine, despite the fact that it's Vista. Except MapleStory. After some experimenting, I've found the more screenshots I have in my MapleStory folder, the more time it takes MapleStory to load. With a few screenshots, it opens immediately, but with the 300,000 I have right now, it takes almost an hour to open. Since I'm a screenshot addict (seriously, I take a screenshot every few seconds), is there any way to disable them? I know you can have the screenshots sent to the desktop or C:\ drive, but I want to completely disable them. Thanks. Big Grin

to disable them, cut your fingers off so you won't press the button.

And alternative would be controlling yourself from pressing the button.

Get a laptop. Freaking scroll lock doesn't work there.

They do, they don't because people don't know what the function key does on their keyboard.

I have a laptop, its the very computer I used to make this topic. And since I don't need to press Function to take a screenshot, it sort of happens absentmindedly.

I deleted + reinstalled Maple, an hour later I had 35 screenshots even though I don't recall taking any.

what do you mean it takes 1 hour to open? Was that exaggerated? Do you open maple by clicking on the shortcut made by the installer on your desktop? Have you tried running maple by clicking on Maplestory.exe in the C:/nexon/maplestory folder?

Also try defragmenting your C drive, might help

No, it was not exaggerated. It takes an hour or more to open. I usually open it from the desktop shortcut, but I have tried running it from C:\Nexon\MapleStory and it still takes an hour.

This might sound like a crazy idea, but what if you relocated an equivalent amount of data into the MapleStory folder (preferably in multiple files) and tried to run MS? Would it still take an hour to load?

I suspect GameGuard to be the culprit, but I dunno...

EDIT: Remove two keys on your keyboard, and switch them? =D That way you'll press the wrong button everytime! (lol I don't think this will work since you unconsciously SSed 35 times)

How much RAM do you have on your computer and how much free space is left on C?

Did you try defragging?
