I HAVE PURCHASED THIS GAME, I have mostly no clue what I'm doing though. XD
Experience is based on actual MtG playing.
1. Have at least 20-24 lands.
2. You'd want efficient monsters. At least 1 mana for 1 attack/life for monsters. If they cost more than that they'd better have an amazing effect. If they are 1:1 AND have an amazing effect, all the better!
3. Stick with a mono color deck until you get the hang of things. If you want to branch off from there I'd suggest duel-color, but tri-color and above would be really hard to balance.
4. Mana generating creatures are VERY VERY good, especially if they are 1 mana weenies.
5. Cards that generate a semblance of control on your deck is pretty good, aka cards that can search your deck.
6. Use as much mana as you possibly can every turn, unless you have cards that can be used during your opponents turn.
7. You will hate fighting really good Blue decks this early in the game while you're still learning. You 'll barely be able to do a single action without them going "lolnope".
8. Speaking of Blue, each color has a general theme:
a. White = Weenies/protection/working together/life gain
b. Red = Burn damage/Haste/First strike
c. Blue = Counters/unblockable creatures/flying creatures/deck control
d. Black = Leeching/crippling/creature destruction/hand destruction
e. Green = Beefy creatures/land ramping/anti-air/trample/buffs to bolster already beefy creatures
All I can think of right now.
