How can current FPS and time be shown beside nickname panel??

In the screenshot of the above article, I can see current FPS and time beside nickname panel.

What does make those shown?
Please tell me how to.

I'm pretty sure it's from some recording program like fraps.

AFAIK, that's just from xfire.
But i could be wrong.

Yes, that's from XFire. It's an in-game chat program that has a customizable in-game display interface that allows you to see your frames per second, the time of day and other things. It also lets you record videos, broadcast a live video of you playing a game (if supported by XFire) and take and host screen shots.

If you want only FPS, you could use ALT+F12, fps will be shown at the top-right corner, location cannot be customized though unlike Xfire/Fraps.
