Overtime the fins on the heat sink for your laptop gets blocked, so no airflow over the fins = hotter computer. You can try to force air into the fins and hope for some unclogging. A more effective way is to open up your laptop(only if you know what you're doing) and clean the fins. Be prepared with some cooling compound for reattaching the heat sink to various parts.

I did this--lowered idle temps from 60°C to under 40°C. YMMV.
