Recording / Broadcasting console / handheld games

Is anyone an "expert" in this stuff? I'm thinking about finding something new to occupy my time with now that I've finally got away from this horrid MMO, so I thought about doing video game play-throughs for my Youtube channel just for fun or just doing live streams for my friends to watch.

What do I need to record/broadcast (preferably direct streaming) from a Nintendo Wii / Nintendo DS (Lite) / Nintendo 3DS?

I've tried broadcasting/recording off of emulators before, but my computer is far too weak to do such a thing, sadly.


I've tried Googling this, but the results I can only come up with are "watch movies on your Wii with Netflix!" ._.

I'd guess you'd use one of the "OUT" ports from either your video game or TV to make the video information go to your computer.
Then you'd need a program that gets that info and records it.

Dunno about the handhelds though. ):

Nintendo handhelds are a bit complicated to record. They usually need some kind of hard mod for them and well not many people have been successful with 'em so far. I do know there were two mods that were being sold(Korean I think) but they were discontinued. I do also know of a project that was in the works for another ds capture card but I'm not too sure how much it's progressed.

It has chuggaaconroys attention for sure so it could be a decent breakthrough.

As far as recording consoles go, I'm in the midst of getting a decent capture card(Actually waiting for one as a present) to give it a go myself. This is the one I've been looking at for reference: Hauppauge Colossus PCI Express Internal HD-PVR

Shiiit, it went down quite a bit from the last time I saw it.

Edit: Yeah, I'm using component cables Wii wise myself so I figured this would be the best solution for me. There's plenty of others that work with Composites as well. Just Amazon capture cards and research from there.
