What is your favourite Final Fantasy game?
#21
IV and XII, and XIII coming in 3rd. IV was just....amazing. Fondest memories of it have to be when I was playing with a broken finger. XII would be my favorite, but I played back when ye olde englishe was an entirely different language to me (6th grade). XIII was oddly pretty damn fun, despite all the flak it gets. Granted, I wanted to crush in half the cast's heads at the start, but I grew to like most of them by the end. XIII-2 seems like it will fix all the junk that went wrong in this first one, so I need to get on all the bonus content, and definitely replay XII for the story.

IX and VI are my absolute favorites.

I cannot praise IX enough for its cast of odd characters. The battle system was far too slow, but the story, environments, and atmosphere made up for it. I also love how each character plays a specific role (class) in battle. A lot of people love customization, but for me it takes away from the characters if they can all have the same magic skills.

I also liked VII and XIII. I and II are just...lol. III was meh. I couldn't get into IV and V. I abhor VIII, never played X. XII is okay. I used to completely dislike it, but it's not as bad as I thought it was.

4, 7, 10 are my favs. Not in any particular order.

Only ones i have not played yet are 3, 8, 13 (and 11, but that's a moot point). I own 8 and 13, just havent had a chance to play them yet.

VI hands down, the story (stories actually) was very cohesive. each of the characters were interesting. the music was phenomenal (i in every FF concert atleast 1/3 of the music comes from this)

FF Tactics on psx. probably my most clocked in console game.

not going to negate that, VI has by far some of the best music of the series, and the whole opera scene was overkill to the max, loved every second.

ShinkuDragon Wrote:five, by far.

Born2BeMild Wrote:V.

MuscleWizard Wrote:Five was awesome

AkaSora Wrote:Final Fantasy V. Best game in that series...for me anyhow.

My brothers and sisters! While I lean towards 5 I honestly like the whole series, even 2 for all the hate it gets. I wouldn't call myself a fan of the FF series, but I have to admit the whole series is pretty solid.

1st, IX. I remember liking pretty much everything about this one, the settings, the characters, the story seemed to flow quite nicely and didn't seem too contrived, even the games version of Triple Triad was an absolute joy to play, you could challenge random NPCs if they had cards to play with and could unearth some epic cards off Random Citizen 6. Really felt like an actual part of the world rather than a simple tack on for the collecktorz. Spent so many hours collecting the cards, seems a shame I never actually fully completed it. Want to replay again just incase my rose-coloured starry-eyed nostalgia goggles are lying to me.

2nd, III. Simple story, fairly 1-dimensional playable characters since anyone could be literally anything and could do everything, but very playable and just a lot of fun in general. Played the iPhone version which meant unlocking the Iron Giant didn't require the sending of messages through Mognet, in all other respects it is identical to the DS version. 80 or so hours to get all my guys to level 99/9999 HP and beat this one in its entirity.

3rd, X. Must have liked something about this one since I sunk 22x hours into it. Unsure what to make of the story in this one and despite it being similarly engrained into the environment I never particularly liked Blitzball. Settings were also quite nice in this one. I bet most of those hours were spent farming cash/items in the Monster Arena so I could beat all the extra enemies or trying to find the ultimate weapon for every character. I wanted to do it all without paying that mexican summon (forget his name) tens of millions of Gil just so he's use Zanmato. Sad

Thread seems to be in general leaning towards IV-VI and XII, coincidentally ones I haven't played. brbplayingwhenican
