Can a fully grown level 8 item pot lose closeness/die?

I was raising a 100 closeness gemstone imp on my shad and got it to fall asleep for the last time (going from 7 -> 8). That same day, my wife got hacked and I locked down my account for a few weeks. Then Ascension hit and I decided to make a new F/P on a new account. 2 days ago I finally logged back onto my shad to find the fully grown diamond sitting in the item pot window ready to harvest. 6 slot mineral bag.

tl;dr - Fully grown, 100 closeness imp sat in item pot window for ~3-4 weeks and was perfectly fine.
