Router broken?

My router stinks

I was on MS like normal and then I DC. I'm like okay nothing biggie, so I wait til I reconnect again but now my laptop and my sister's computer don't connect. I try making a connection in my D-link's default gateway at 192.168.0.1 but when I do and it says " sucessful ". I can't find a connection on my laptop or other computer.

Can anyone help me out?

Reboot your laptop, yank out the power or turn it off, wait about 3-5 mins. Turn it back on, and try that. Same thing to your Modem too.

I even left the modem off overnight, but still didn't work.

You can reset your router completely by holding down the reset button for 30(?) seconds. It resets it back to factory condition so you'd have to set up everything as if you just bought it. It's kinda like reformatting your computer. If that doesn't work, I can't help you from there so be warned lol.

If you're using a router, there's a feature where you can check the status of the router/connection. Use it and see how your internet connection goes.

If it shows that it doesnt connect, then there is probably some account settings that got changed, eg login/passwords from your ISP. If not, then check to make sure your line cable works, eg swap it, or test it with the phone.

After you ruled out that it's not the router, then you need to check the router settings, eg is it in DHCP, etc. Then check to make sure your IP settings for your laptop/desktop are correct.

Not sure if you can do this with little routers that you buy, but .. if you can, access your router online, there should be a company website for it. Then try login in directly into your router that way, and try pinging your 2 comp's IP address that way. If all 5 packets are sent with a 100% success rate, and it doesn't work, I have no clue what's wrong....

But if all 5 packets aren't received, either your configuration FOR your router is wrong, or something is wrong with your laptop/computer, wireless adapter, etc. >_>

Try and see if there is a firmware update for your router. It may help.

1: Try direct connection to modem, see if that works
2: Ping the IP of the router and see if there's any packet loss.

start > run > cmd

type ipconfig /release
then type ipconfig /renew

maybe it'll fix yer prob

Tried everything suggested above. None worked

I got fucking mad so I just got a new router and it seems to work okay.
